frank luntz. okay so good morning to you, let's go through your playbook here, starting with starting with humility, humility here is to understand how the votes are actually cast. you can't win 40% if you're not donald trump 30% maybe 25% is your ceiling. okay, okay. the republican primary vote. the electorate is divided by winner take all states and states where you win the congressional districts. yeah, republican has to come in first or second to get the lion's share of delegates. humility says don't expect that you're going to come out of the gate very quickly. you have to do it slowly, methodically. humble, humble. okay what do you mean by do better? what does that mean? it means that you cannot support the status quo. republican voters want significant change. they want reform. they want to drain the swamp. they want change, and you have to be the change candidate, not the status quo candidate. so then, here i am just wondering so real people matter because i'm going to get to the gop focus

and frank luntz was the focus group moderator. and this went on for 2 hours.and i guarantee you, after those 2 hours, not one line was changed. and over. they were heard. and we listened and we answers and we gave our as best we could. i went in assuming, i wouldn't be able to change anyone's mind. and i was correct in that. that's not a criticism so much as this is deep, it is a residual deep and it's part alienation, it's part grievance, it's part a sense that there's a machinery that they don't understand. and i think in the election space and i know david will speak to this eloquently than i will those people who have been in this space because, it's esoteric because it's nuts and bolts have always of had the approach, i'll take of the election and win the results are reported and the candidates will accept it and then move on. or when candidates don't accept it, then a burden. now on the election administrators to be more vocal and communicative about what they do and how they do. and that's a new burden because they never had to worry about candidates ac

well, speaking of trump voters, frank luntz, pollster, a friend of our show, sat down with his focusroup of trump voters, and he heard something different this time. i mean, basically, they were telling them what they think what he what they wish. about donald trump and why they're struggling. and so i have a couple he wrote a new york times op ed, uh, this weekend, and he says here, i'll just quote some of the things that frank luntz reports, they said quote they love their grandchildren speak specifically about the grandkids and their grandparents will listen as well. we mistake loud for leadership condemnation for commitment. the values we teach our children should be the values we see in our president. frank is basically giving instruction giving advice here to other republicans for how they could beat trump after what he heard from the trump voters. those are some of the things like, say, is this what you want to teach your grandchildren? that's one here's another. during the 2016 campaign. trump condemned barack obama repeatedly for his occasional rounds of golf, promising not

's the headline? what do they want? >> they want to beat donald trump. yes, they want to elect joe biden. and yes, they approve of the last two years, two and a half years of the administration. but what unites them and unifies them is the desire, the fear of republicans returning to office. now, remember they did the same kind of session three weeks ago, asking republicans what they wanted. republicans are more in favor of electing their candidate. democrats are more nervous about what happens if republicans come back into power. now, make no mistake, there is no negative about joe biden's record. they would like to go further to protect abortion rights. they would like to go further to address the gun issue. but they are absolutely satisfied with what president biden has done up until this point. >> and yet -- >> what concerns them deeply is his age. and they're quite nervous that at some point between now and election day something could happen. and that joe biden is not the nominee
