smith, in new mexico. >> harry, thankou very much. this week we highlight another life well lived. 28 years after jackie robinson broke basell bare year. franke's manager. before he made history, frank robinson was one ofll base all time greatest players. he broke into the big leagu in 1976 with the cincinnati reds and named rookie of the ar. the 14 times a stall ll-star re the only player in both the nationalnd american leagues. on april 8th, 1975, robinson became t first african-american manager in major league baseball history. evon as hetinues to play as well. in that first game, he hit a home run. robinson was raised in oakland, california, the youngest of ten children. he was h ah school basketball teammate, a future nba legend, bill russell. during his timeth wit orioles in the 1960s, robinson became active among civil rights issues. in 1982, robinson s in ducted into the baseball hall of fame. in 2005, president george w. bush awarded robinson as the medal of freedo back when he was highred as a manager, he said, the only wish i can is wish that jackie robinson to be here.fr k robinson died this week at home in los angeles, he was 83
