earlier i spoke with brian o'hara, director of public safety for newark, new jersey, and rich frankelagent in charge of the fbi's new york joint terrorism task force. brian, i'd like to start with you. you see an incident like this. what goes through your mind as a public safety director of a large urban city? >> absolutely, it's obviously an incredibly devastating incident from the moment we started to hear about it. i just have to say, our hearts go out to all those folks who were affected. because just like here in newark, you know, those people are living in a community that's already affected with incredibly difficult levels of gun violence. we've had folks at home, folks in communities that have already historically been dealing with incredible challenges, made that much worse by the pandemic. the lack of resources available for young people, folks with mental illness, increasing number of illegal firearms on the street. particularly guns in the hands of people who should not have them. so obviously we're concerned about all of those issues. then also stepping up our own patrols

i am so proud to hear my cochair, frankel, talk about the importance of our history being recognized in these hallowed halls. both justices o'connor and ginsberg did exactly that. they showed what is meant to blaze trails and to break the glass ceiling. and the first and second woman to serve on the supreme court, the highest court. their story is an american story and it is one that our country should be proud of. and it is not what you say, it is what you do. and today, we are taking action. though their long careers were paved -- they paved the way for countless women in the judiciary system, their life-changing words and actions will live in the hearts of americans across this country. i am grateful and i am excited to be part of the democratic women's caucus that is helping to lead this effort in honoring the life and legacies of these two giants. i yield back. >> gentlewoman from pennsylvania reserves. the gentleman from -- >> mr. speaker i would be remiss if i did not point out a bit of irony that exists as we discussed honoring anyone but adding a statute and bus to the halls
