it is volunteers like franklin hobson who help our nation thrive. through the generous example he has set, franklin inspires others to think about ways they can give to their local community. thank you, franklin, for all of the good that you do for your community and for being a great example for all of us. mr. speaker, today i rise to recognize the 60th anniversary of the fall creek volunteer fire department. the first meeting of these dedicated citizens was held on june 13, 1957 at fall creek elementary school. as 12 local men worked to establish the fire department. its charter calls for 60 members and its membership ranks have remained nearly full for 60 years. a pillar of the community, members have been awarded north carolina's order of the long leaf pine on three occasions. helping others is one of the most honorable activities anyone can engage in. and this kind of selfless dedication to one's community is critical to the well-being of our country. i thank the members of the fall creek volunteer fire department for the selflessness and brave

the library was established by franklin roosevelt. he was looking for a way to preserve the papers of his administration and his personal papers. and so he created a library on the grounds of his estate in hyde park, new york. he basically, what he decided to do was raise private money to build the library and then he gave it to the government to be operated by the national archives. followed byas subsequent presidents, so this is the first of the presidential libraries that was created and operated either national archives. about 10 years ago, library embarked on an ambitious plan to look at the entire museum and bring it up to date. the completely new galleries opened in 2013, and basically everything you see at the museum 2013ates from that reopening. it is all brand-new, a fresh look at both the lives of franklin and eleanor roosevelt and of the result presidency. 1932,hibition begins in the year franklin roosevelt was elected. 1932 was a year of tremendous crisis for the nation and world. the country was in the third year of the

. >> franklin roosevelt didn't have a home up here. they would live at his mother's house and had a study. his 1933 to 1941, that was office when he came to hyde park. she loved that. the political leaders would come to her home and she enjoyed that. when he decided he was going to donate the prop property to the federal government, he had a big signing and signed the deed over to the federal government only that they didn't own the property. and the property belonged to sarah. they had to fly over the deed so they could sign it over to the federal government. during the leadup, sarah wanted to create something special and had this portrait commissioned and gave it to him so she could look over his shoulder. >> the story of their relationship, how close were they, she went to college with him and upstairs in the home, didn't she have a bedroom right next to him? >> on the home, there is a three bedrooms and eleanor slept in after franklin came down with polio. but they had an extraordinary relationship and she is maligned as being a co

this happened overnight here at the ben franklin bridge.estioned by the delaware river port authority. the bridge is opened now but overnight the ben franklin bridge was closed for an hour and a half as all this was going on. this began around 1:00 a.m. police say two men climbed up the center pillar of the ben franklin bridge. their plan was to do some spray painting up there apparently but they got trapped up on the pillar and then they couldn't get down. police teams were called in. they put on harnesses to climb up that pillar and retrieve those two men with their spray paint cans. that bridge by the way is 135 feet above the river. the towers are 382 feet tall. nobody was injured going up or coming back down. those men remain in custody and are being questioned. police haven't said yet what kind of charges or fines they face but this all remains under investigation. we're live near the ben franklin bridge, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> katherine thank you for that. >>> new here on "action news" a man shot 13 times is cling

cameras just around the ben franklin bridge. you can see it's directly underneath the bridge right now. watching a jackknifed tractor trailer accident closing down all lanes of the southbound side of 95. right now diverting all traffic off around the vine street expressway. making you get off there. head westbound on the vine street expressway. get on the schuylkill eastbound. move down to south philly that way and hop back on 95. that's going to be your best bet for right now. earlier we did have problems on the schuylkill around 30th street. accident closed instead both directions. now back to normal. please don't worry about those delays also. in new castle delaware watching flooding. might be detoured around the scene there. also in block law, flooding on route 30. around route 47. areas with different areas of heavy rain. that earlier heavy rain seeing flooding and also reports of lane restrictions on 295. i don't see them in this camera here. watch out for it just in case. this is just near the black horse pike. tracey bac
