joining me for the discussion, we have fred barnes, from the "weekly standard." mocratic strategist liz claman hadron as well. fred, people tune into the television. they see the free-fall. they see the headlines in the papers and start getting more and more worried if they're not worried about the economic situation we're in. what does that mean politically speaking? >> it should mean, not that it does mean, but should mean this is what the presidential candidates would start talking about more as they have in past elections. even this far ahead of the primaries. and yet, the republicans really have no one who is talking, who really has a big economic agenda that says, as ronald reagan did, i'm going to cut taxes, this will create an economic boom which it did. instead they're pretty tepid. and democrats just want to raise taxes and spend more. trish: you know, you do have donald trump out there who is promising his tax plan, liz. that is supposed to come out any day now. he is promises doing something to fix this. $2 trillion we have significant oversees. he is

i'm joined by fred barnes and hank sheinkopf democratic strategist, he served on the team for presidentn's re-election effort. right now donald trump is the front-runner and each day points verbal airgun at somebody. today it's marco rubio saying in multiple campaign efforts in south carolina he criticized rubio's senate record saying he misses most of the votes. that may be fair, not sure. and, quote, he's never seen such a young guy sweato much. again the personal attacks, and he's still the front-runner, fred? >> look, he knows perfectly well he can get away with the personal insults and enjoys doing them. switching attacks now to marco rubio is something he's thought out. it's a smart move. he realized that attacking carly fiorina backfired badly at debate last week, so he's not doing that. moved to who's next in line? who's nearing him in the polls and there he is marco rubio. some of his comments are ridiculous, he sweats a lot and drinks too much water and things like that. but he has done homework about rubio in the thing about missing votes, a part of that is unfair. this is wh
