cnn's fred pleitgen is in jerusalem. scott mclean is in beirut, lebanon, fred, let me begin with you. what is the latest hi there, fredricka. well certainly it is still quite concerning here on the ground. i would say it's still very tense and very volatile situation as well. and of course, one of the main reasons for that is what you were just mentioning is those rocket attacks that the israelis say were launched from syrian territory early this morning. that, of course, is a pretty big deal since israeli territory was shot at or fired rockets fired from lebanon earlier and then also from gaza, now from syrian territory as well. the israelis are saying that at least one of those rockets landed. one was intercepted. they say six rockets were fired in total. now. the israelis then launched those airstrikes. we're seeing one of them right there on our screen right now, saying that they took out some compounds from the syrian military is quite interesting because it's not clear whether or not said anything to do with the syr

our senior international correspondent fred pleitgen is joining us with new information. can you tell us about these new accusations against navalny? >> reporter: these terrorism accusations certainly is something that seems to have caught alexei navalny by surprise. he had a hearing today, which was procedural. it was about the extremism case. apparently on the sidelines of that, he found out that he was also supposed to be tried for terrorism, as well. in a military court in a secret trial. navalny says the absurd thing about these terrorism allegations that he committed this act of terrorism while he was already inside a penal colony to the east of moscow. here is what we're learning. the moscow court literally silencing a kremlin critic. as alexei navalny speaks via video link, his sound is abrab abruptly cut off. it looks like they will limit the time he is able to go through the court documents, and then the audio is muted. the situation for alexei navalny has become even more serious. the court ruled navalny only has ten days to review hundreds of documents from an

cnn's fred pleitgen is intel aviv.you still have a whole lot of people who are turning out for the same cause. 14 weeks in a row. is there anything different about the tenor or the motivation here? hi there, fredricka. well, first of all, you're right. there are a lot of people who came out on the streets at night tonight to protest against that planned judiciary reform or overhaul bill. but of course, this current security situation does play a role in this as well and has influenced how this protest is going to happen has happened. i think one of the things that we have to keep in mind is that only about 24 hours ago there was a very large terror attack that took place here. in the city, and at least one person was killed. i believe right now there's actually a moment of silence for the victims of those terror attacks . that's what the people here said that they would do because they obviously want to pay homage to those who were killed and injured in those attacks that have taken place at the same time. the people h

cnn's fred pleitgen is in jerusalem fred what's the latest? fredricka. well, certainly pretty big incident that happened there today on the border with syria when you had those rockets that came flying over from syrian territory, the israel defense forces say they say that those came flying towards the golan heights, which, of course are held by israel and the israelis are saying that six rockets in total were launched. they say at least one rocket was intercepted. apparently one fell in a field on the golan heights, some also falling into syrian territory. one apparently fell into jordanian territory as well . nevertheless a pretty big incidents we just saw on our screens. they're some of the retaliated retaliation that the israelis launched. they say that a drone fired at some of those places where they believe that those rockets were fired from the also hit some syrian military installations as well and that's key because the israelis so far have not said that they believe that those rockets were actually fired by the syrian military or by anyone else

cnn's fred pleitgen is intel aviv. so, uh, fred is today's protest as big as what we've been seeing over the past few weeks. well, they certainly are still gearing up here. as you can see behind me. there are people pouring in, and we believe that protest is going to start very shortly. we'll wait and see whether or not it is actually as big as it has been over the past really months, if you will. this is already the 14th weekend in a row that these protests are taking place. however the organizers themselves have said that they believe that the things they're protesting for which is, of course, specifically trying to prevent that. reform or overhaul of the judiciary that the netanyahu government has planned. they believe that's so important. they do need to continue this protest despite the security situation. nevertheless the security situation and the very volatile security situation certainly, of course, plays into the way that this protest is taking place. for instance, you're going to have the protest taking place

let's first go to cnn's fred pleitgen live near the gaza strip. fred what more do we know about what the israeli defense forces struck this morning? either fredricka when they say that they struck several targets inside the gaza strip, a lot of them being tunnels but then also what they call research and development facilities from hamas from the militant group but obviously controls the gaza strip. obviously the israelis are saying that in some cases, hamas is actually building rockets there that are then fired towards israel, and you mentioned the fact that overnight there were also a lot of rockets that came from gaza towards israeli territory. the israelis managing to intercept a lot of those rockets, some of them landed in open fields, but one actually did land account town called the road, which is also right near where i am right now on the edge of the gaza strip as well. nevertheless you're also absolutely frederico that the israeli defense forces spokesman told me israel wants to de escalate the situation here is what he said. we want to d

let's get straight to cnn's fred pleitgen, who is near the israeli gaza border, and scott mclean is in beirut, lebanon, for us as well. but let's start with you, fred. fred you did talk to the spokesman for the israeli defense forces just this morning. what did he tell you? either abby. well first of all the tensions here are definitely very high at the gaza israel border. in fact, as we stand here, we're constantly hearing israeli drones overhead. obviously, monitoring very closely to see that not more rockets are fired from the territory of gaza towards israel . we had that overnight where dozens of rockets were shot at israeli territory. a lot of them were taken out by the iron dome air defense system, but one did land in the town of steroid. at the same time, the israelis obviously conducted their massive air strikes across gaza. they say that they hit some tunnels and also what they call research and development areas of hamas, obviously, where rockets are made. nevertheless the israelis are saying that right now it's an extremely volatile situation. not just here around gaza, but
