there are some showers into portions of frederick county just east of frederick along 70. more shower activity toward west virginia. but this is really the only big storm we're watching in our area, it's the only one that's really formed. it's moving just to the south of 70, there was a severe thunderstorm warning associated with that for hampshire county. but now it's beginning to move into the panhandle of west virginia and western maryland. you'll see that storm coming across. and as i mentioned, light shower activity in frederick county, maryland. that's going to be about it. the bulk of the rain has been just up to our north, right along the maryland/pennsylvania border. that's where some strong storms have been, a couple of severe storms, too. but they're not making their ware toward our region. tomorrow i think they will as the frontal boundaries converge, a good chance for rain, that's why a flash flood watch is in effect for the day tomorrow. some locations could pick up, and some of the stronger storms, 1 to 2-inch rainfall rates an hour. so it could come down pr

of frederick county, virginia, i should say so that you know it's not frederick county, maryland.hat may change, though, before the night is out, very heavy rain there. that flash flood warning runs until 1:30 a.m. and we'll reevaluate. very slow moving thunderstorms dropping a lot of rain. they are going to be the loud variety with a lot of lightning and very loud thunder because these are tropically rich and those produce a lot of lightning and very loud thunder. let me show you the temperatures, 82 degrees in the city, a lot of moisture, humidity for these thunderstorms to feed off of and that won't change much over the next 24 to 36 hours. back in the central plains i take you to missouri and over to illinois, this little cluster of thunderstorms very important because this is being produced by an upper level wave of low pressure and it's moving in our direction. as that gets here tomorrow, it's going to increase our chances for more heavy rain and thunderstorms. tonight we're right along a stalled out frontal boundary. that's helping lift these into the air. this won't go any

in frederick is down in the lower 70s, manassas 72 degrees. can see where the rain has been, big thunderstorms moving through richmond today. they have plenty of rain and down through eastern sections of north carolina and out towards the cape. all of this is basically there's a bit of a weak frontal boundary in here, kind of washed out. most of the rain was along that front which basically included up to national this morning. they picked up less than .1- inch. that moved out and it ended up south of us. we do have that little washed out frontal boundary, but south of us is where all the real deep moisture and instability is. a big area of high pressure offshore we call the bermuda high. it reaches down and brings in a lot of atlantic moisture. it also brings in gulf of mexico moisture, too much that's where all the showers and storms have been the last several days through the deep south. again it looks like we'll get a little bit better chance of some rain starting tomorrow afternoon in the form of thunderstorms. as we look at futurecast to

frederick county in a flood warning and hampshire county in west virginia. these are the storms that are still west of i81. it's a big storm too between hagerstown and martinsburg. this will produce incredible amounts of rain. so you already had heavy rain tonight and don't cross the street by car or by foot if it is flooded. where will these go in the next hour? they're generally going to go off to the north and to the east. and this is going to hold together, the one that is going to go through hagerstown. the rest weaken a little bit as they cross i81. but because they're going to cross i81, some of our western suburbs will have kind of a wet commute tomorrow morning. just a residual moisture. satellite picture, radar combined, we'll go down to the gulf. this could be the next tropical system. not terribly well organized but it's hammering florida with rainfall. that's good. they've had a hard time getting rain on the west side of 75 and earn naples and now they're -- around naples and now they're getting it. the rest of florida has been getting good rain
