delia goncalves is live in frederick county, maryland with a view. hey, delia. >> reporter: hey, lesli. it's been snowing since 6:00 this morning. the snow has not let up. in fact, it's making it difficult for plows to actually keep on top of the snow. you can see here in this parking lot off 85 here, a plow did come through about an hour ago. you can see some of its remnants and signs but it left behind all this slush and take a look right across the way. that was down to the pavement just an hour ago. and now we have accumulation about another inch of snow so. this is coming down fast and furious. it's hard for crews to stay on top of it because look, the roads are still a mess. we've been seeing a lot of plows come through. earlier today, we ran into a gentleman who was driving in this muck and this mess and the rear wheel drive, he had a mustang. he pulled up into the gas station and the first question of course, what were you doing? let's listen. >> there's been several accidents. one car is on its side shortly after the scales south of urbana.

not so frederick douglass. that year, around 16 years of age, he is still a slave and the victim of repeated whippings by a brutal new owner. one day, he decides he must resist or be killed. he bravely fights back. he is never punished again. freedom from abuse is not enough to quench his thirst for liberty. soon he he is hired out to yet another owner as a field hand. william freeland. you couldn't invent such a name. he recognizes something special, nothing to liberate him, but enough to allow douglass to go to school, where he is soon teaching 40 other us -- enslaved people. he is working in a maryland shipyard, but required to turn his wages over to his owner. he meets a free woman of color named anna marie and get engaged. when his master orders him back home for punishment for attending a revival meeting douglass believes he will be sold. he resolves to take anna and escape. in 1838, he leaves baltimore by train, then switches to a steamboat, reaches the free city of philadelphia, then heads to new york.

in frederick, john gonzalez, abc 7 news. autria: we are following a developing story in prince george's county this noon. that's where a police chase led to a deadly crash in temple hills. and the victim, an innocent bystander. jeanette reyes has the latest on the investigation now under way. jeanette: one man is dead after a routine traffic stop leads to a high speed chase. in fact, you can still see the crime scene tape where this all happened here. prince george's county police say around 8:30 last night, an officer pulled over a man along branch avenue and holbrooke drive. that suspect then drove off running over the police officer who then pursued him. the man was later spotted along branch avenue and he ee very much actually lost control of his car and crashed into three other vehicles killing a driver. he then fled on foot leading to a frantic chase by helicopter and k-9s. the officers can chase a suspect if the officer's life was put in danger but with one seemingly innocent man dead, some people we talked to are div

joce: well alison, i just came out of frederick county courthouse. in three different offices in there pulling cases. at least four of them at this moment, companies locally in maryland d.c. and virginia that claim they paid a company called period payroll to handle their taxes to take the money out of their employees' checks and then pay the feds or local authorities. these companies, though say that never happened and we were talking about a lot of money. as much as $400,000 that was never paid. and this is all related to a company we want to know and find today called period payroll based in frederick, maryland. now, in lawsuits that were filed against this particular company by businesses in maryland virginia and d.c., we found out some stunning claims. pyramid u.s.a. which is a company based in frederick say they hired period payroll back in 2013 for only two months. they say that company was supposed to handle their payroll taxes but they say they never did. now, they are out a small chunk of change in this one. they're a small player in this.
