some of the area from montgomery county annapolis to fredericksburg. take away the snow and just show you the reflectivity here. what that means is showing you exactly where it's falling. the darker the green, the heavier the snow. so frederick county seeing pretty good snow up towards martinsburg back to the west then down to the south in through portions of the southern maryland area. but notice the holes here back around d.c. back down through sterling up towards dulles a lot of holes around the region. we have seen that lull in the action. now one thing i am expecting, this back edge right here once this back edge moves in i do expect to see a little explosion as far as the snow is concerned. so this is going to fill back in parts of the region. but one region that's not seen the lull is down around the neck in fredericksburg. the winter storm warnings are still in effect until noon tomorrow. we also told you earlier at 6:00 didn't really buy the warning up into this area. i don't think you're going to meet that criteria being five inches of snow.

live in fredericksburg david culvert, news4. >> see you then. david, thanks so much. metro buss are now back out on our roads but they are still operating with some limitations. service was suspended this morning because of road conditions. the buses are now running but they're being kept away from hilly roads, narrow side streets and other problem spots. metro rail operated on a saturday schedule today. amtrak says trains throughout the northeast corridor will operate on a modified schedule tomorrow. >>> a snow emergency in the district that affect wrd you can park is over. it was lifted at 2:00 this afternoon today, but not before the district. ticketed and towed more than 130 cars. those tickets are 250 bucks and then you have to athd $100 for the towing on top of that so that really hurts. a snow emergency surcharge is still in effect if you're going to take a d.c. cab. that's a flat fee of $15 that goes on top of the fare. now, that is set to expire at 7:00 tonight. slick roads and speed may have led to a deadly crash near the montgomery and howard county line. c

you'll get more snow in hagerstown and cumberland and fredericksburg thursday night and friday. is in a classic system coming out of the -- this is a classic system coming out of the gulf of mexico hammering north of atlanta and the smokes again. this is the second storm in three days for the southeast. that's where it is now. headlines, snow breaks out before dawn, bus stop temperatures 20s with snow. do your homework, kids. let's not jinx this thing. the roads become slick very fast. that's the deal. here's futurecast. 6 a.m. snow already in leesburg and gaithersburg and look carefully if you have hd, that's a lighter band, another gradation, another gradation. so the heaviest snow willing east of 95 south of route 50 and especially confined to southern maryland into the northern neck. 8 a.m. in the morning snow still across the board, temps in the 20s. by 10:00 we see snow beginning to taper off manassas and culpeper and then after lunchtime it moves across the bayen and just sort of diminishes -- bay and just sort of diminishes, a good period of snow between 4 a.m. and 10 a.

fredericksburg, ashburn and la plata 2 to 4, jermantown 1 to 2, hagerstown a trace to an inch. they snuck in st. mary's county with a winter storm warning. parts of calvert county will end up making that criteria. you have to have 5 inches or more. i think parts of charles will end up in the winter storm warning before it's all said and done. the rest of us are under a winter weather advisory until midnight tomorrow including leesburg, manassas up to frederick, does not include the i-81 corridor between winchester and hagerstown. futurecast 5 a.m., there's the snow. it's across the board. you can see different gradations of blue. this is pretty heavy snow already by 5:00 into southern maryland, temps in the 20s. it accumulates very quickly. by 6:00 snow again and by 8:00 it moves up to frederick and the border. the darker blue is pretty good snow, not going to last that long, probably 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. period of snow, but pretty good snows in the metro area. by 10:00 it begins to push east and move across the bay by lunchtime. we'll come back and talk about if we make it above

news4's david culvert spent this day digging out in fredericksburg. he joins us now live from there. what's the scene where you are, david? >> jim, piles of snow just like this one behind me. they're filling parking lots just about everywhere you go in fredericksburg. you can see how far back they go. some of them about 6 feet high. the sun, you can see it's shine, doing its job to melt them a little bit. when it comes to the side streets, well, the sun's not quite enough. we started out where they began digging out, at this woodbridge shopping center pap small frontloader doing the job. at the base of the national museum of the marine corps, lifelines burning fuel to keep the lot clear. in a break from the usual, we headed south for more snow. drive down 95 smooth thanks to these many road cries. route 1, mostly pavement with a few icy patches. but turn onto just about any neighborhood and side street this is what you'll find here a crunchy, slick drive. jay working hard to get his business back open. how much more do you have here to do? >> probably

now to the south, that's the bull's eye, culpeper and la plata and fredericksburg. you folks will get 8 to 12 inches and i think that's going to be a lot especially into southern maryland. to the north cumberland and hagerstown probably 3 to 6 inches, probably even frederick as well, so a little less to the north. legitimate snow. critical hours essentially now through 7 a.m. it's a very dry snow, easier to sweep away and easier on your back to shovel. bull's eye south and east of town and a general 4 to 8 inches on the way. we'll pick up some cities here. bowie 6 inches, downtown 7 inches on the terrace, leesburg 5, fairfax kind of in the middle, so 6 inches, bethesda sort of in the middle 7 inches. it's so dry we'll get more bang for the buck, so to speak. that's why we think we'll get a lute fluffy snow. on the impact meter not as high, probably around a four because we're coming off a three-day holiday. it's going to occur mainly overnight. everybody is prepared. it will have less impact in term of trying to get to work tomorrow. it will on trying to arrange to
