i'm fredricka whitfield. we begin with a devastating attack in baghdad. at least 125 people were killed when a car bomb went off in a busy shopping area in central baghdad. the area was crowded with people breaking their fast on one of the last days of the holy month of ramadan. the iraqi prime minister has declared three days of public mourning beginning today. isis says it is responsible for the bombing. this is the third major terror attack claimed by isis in the past week. first last week's shootings and bombings at the istanbul airport killing 44 people. two days later civilians were taken hostage at a cafe in bangladesh. 20 were killed. ben wedeman is joining us on what's happening in iraq. nima elbagir and kimberly dozier. >> isis put out a statement saying they were specifically targeting shia muslims in this attack, and, of course, this was a neighborhood that's very busy, very popular. there were hundreds of people out on the street enjoying the relative cool of the evening in baghdad. they were out

i'm fredricka whitfield. several gop delegates say they'll be packing heat when they touch down in cleveland for this summer's republican convention. they say violent protests at trump rallies and the threat of terror attacks have convinced them to take their safety into their own hands. cnn white house producer christian holmes talked to one of those delegates. she's joining us from washington. kristin, guns aren't allowed in the convention center but that doesn't include other related events. >> that's exactly right. according to the secret service, they have told us the actual arena that will be under a secure perimeter, that means no guns, no weapons of any kind. but anything outside of that, they are deferring to ohio state law. ohio is an open-carry state. this means people who have purchased firearms legally are allowed to carry them in public miss places. this includes parks and streets. areas that are close to the convention site but not quite in that secure perimeter. now those are also places that

i'm fredricka whitfield. as the vetting process moves into full swing for hillary clinton's vice presidential picks, the former secretary of state is facing the fbi's final probe into the use of her private e-mail server. sources tell cnn an announcement of no charges is expected within the next two weeks as long as no evidence of wrongdoing emerges from yesterday's interview with the fbi. the campaign hopes to put the more than year-long controversy to rest and officially turn their full focus to the general election, but the issue still threatens to haunt her candidacy. clinton supporter and potential running mate cory booker ruled out any possibility that an indictment would emerge. the new jersey senator also weighed in on the vp selection process. >> we learned more about donald trump's vice presidential search this week, one of the names under consideration is new jersey governor chris christie. you're very familiar with him. the two of have you worked pretty closely together on the issue of education.

fredricka whitfield is on the scene for us in baton rouge.eople there near the scene? >> reporter: i talked to a number of people who happened to live in the neighborhood. you can see behind me, wolf, this is a residential community. you heard the governor talk about this airport highway, which really is a vital, commercial district. there are car dealerships, there are restaurants, there is the beauty shop where we heard this gunman, eyewitnesses saw him behind this beauty shop with this long-arm assault weapon of sorts, and that's when police responded. and just here to my right, steve, i'm going to ask you to unlock your and you've got a number of trees. but just next to these police squad cars, that is the police headquarters for baton rouge police. so they didn't have to go far to respond to the call, just down the street here about a mile and a half, and that's when, of course, when the police arrived, we know from eyewitness accounts, we know from police now, that these police officers were shot, three of whom were killed. i spoke with
