we're well above freezing everywhere now. 41 at reagan national and fredricksburg. later tonight, colder winds will turn out of the north. won't be windy but a flow of more northerly winds and drop well below freezing in the low to mid 20's overnight. everything will be set. when the precipitation arrives, it will not be rain. it will be snow. the air overhead cold enough to produce all snow and this system has been scooting alodge at a pretty good clip. won't be long before it's in southwestern virginia and we think after midnight to 4:00 a.m., it will be overspreading most of the area from the south and from the southwest. in advance, we have that large area of winter weather advisories that stretch north of the storm track and then this entire area under active winter storm warnings from portions of louisiana, arkansas all the way to the atlantic ocean. as far as the details in the futurecast, look at this color scheme from the darker blues. that's the heaviest snow and at 4:00 a.m. that's to be south and east of us. we'll be on the edge of the snow at 4:00 a.m.

we've warmed up some. 21 in washington. 22 in fredricksburg. most everybody tonight with clear skies down the temperatures will go once more. clear skies in the morning. some increasing cloudy early in the morning around sunrise but the lows will be already established and temperatures will be slow to climb. but they will climb through the day. but not enough to give us rain when the system comes in. it will give us snow instead. in fact under a winter weather advisory up and down the i-95 corridor and beyond through the day tomorrow and tomorrow evening for snow mixing with sleet and eventually freezing rain and plain rain and more so to the west. higher elevations and beyond where they can be piling up several inches of snow. exactly how much? maybe five or six or more to the west because of this storm system developing in the lower mississippi river valley and as that swings to the north, it's going to bring in the moisture that will fall first as snow and then the warmer air coming in will change it over. by 11:00 tomorrow morning, the snow

right now we're up to 51 in fredricksburg. it's beautiful down there. easton 46. even 40 at hagerstown with 30s out to the west and western maryland. only davis, west virginia is below freezing right now. in town, 43. but as i said, the winds at reagan national at least slight easterly component so it's coming in off the river keeping it a little colder but it's really on the weather terrace a couple of moments ago, it was beautiful out there. the air is dry also. so it even feels warmer. when you have dry air, it's not transferring the hot or cold as much. it feels good. big snows falling. moderate snow from illinois and northern indiana coming out of areas of nebraska, northern missouri. that's in the cold air behind this front which will be here tomorrow morning. so we're going to watch that but it looks like a lot of that cold is going -- or the snow, that is, is going to get caught up and wrung out in the mountains. so we have the mild stuff. some of the snow makes it northwestern pennsylvania by afternoon, evening. the front comes toward us overnight. in fac
