freeman and her daughter by name. then trump lawyer, rudy giuliani started recognizing in state hearings. this massive jumbotron in georgia played the clip, again, doing what they're supposed to be doing, taking ballots out of the secure container they were supposed to be in. but they kept saying it showed a crime, well look at it, look at all the black women with the ballots. look how criminal it looks. you may also remember that infamous phone call in which president trump tried to pressure the georgia secretary of state into finding enough trump votes in the state somewhere to overturn biden's win. in that phone call, donald trump mentioned rudy freeman's name 18 times. called her a professional vote scammer and a hustler. the head of elections in fulton county said after that call, the harassment of ruby freedman got worse and kept going. today, she spoke with reporters zo and jason zepp doing remarkable work across the country, but just as a sort of window into what this has been like for these women, listen to t

freeman could feel safe. so they all went to the police station, and ruby freeman and trevian kutti the supposed crisis manager all sat down in the police station while a police officer stands nearby. and it's because that police officer was standing nearby there is body camera footage of that part of the meeting. so we've got on tape some of that meeting as captured by police body camera and as published today in edited form by reuters. the audio is a little bit hard to hear. you can make it out, but it's a little bit hard to hear. reuters is the epty that added the subtitles you'll see here on your screen. >> thank you so much for agreeing meet with you. we didn't want to frighten you. i'm here because i received a phone call. not that i didn't know about the situation before because i had heard. but it wasn't a serious concern for me because i had -- we would like to let you know first and foremost we have put in placement a way to move you, to secure you from what may be authorized over the next 48 hours.

freeman in 48 hours, ruby freeman agreed to meet with that woman at a local police station. she was so freaked out after a month of threats and harassment, that was the only place she felt safe meeting with this random stranger. because the meeting happened in a police station, part of it was caught on police body camera. "reuters" obtained that body camera footage. here's a part of that meeting as edited and subtitled by "reuters." >> "we didn't want to frighten you, but we had to find you within this time frame." "we've put in place to move you, to secure you, from what may be authorized over the next 48 hours." "i cannot say specifically what will take place, i just know it would disrupt your freedom and the freedom of one or more members of your family." this woman then tells ruby freeman she's going to put her on the phone with somebody named harrison who she describes as someone, quote, with very high-level -- someone very high-level with the authoritative powers to get you the protection that you need. you need protection, we can give you the protection. at that point

i think about ruby freeman all the time. my colleague, ben collins, who you know very well, and i we talk about her all the time because her story is the most egregious example of something we have seen all over the country. there's a joke on the internet that you never want to be the main character. and someone plucked this 62-year-old grandmother who made bedazzled handbags and seems like a god-fearing, you know, lovely woman and just made her the main character of the vilest people for a full month and then beyond. her story went to the president of the united states and his lawyers to gateway pundit, which is one of the trash cans of the internet. and he -- the hoff and far right website just like every day there was a new story about how she was a crook and she was stealing. and so when you have that narrative out there through those very powerful pipelines, what it does is emboldens those people who consider themselves digital soldiers who think when they call this 62-year-old grandmother and say we're going to kill yo

kutti introduced him to freeman as somebody who worked for her. reuters has identified that guy as another leader in black voices for trump during the campaign who, in fact, works for the republican party in georgia. for the record, that guy tells reuters he was just the driver that day, he had nothing to do with the meeting. but just step back here for a moment. just appreciate what we now know happened here. so this is in the midst of what at this point is already a weeks-long pressure campaign, right, by president trump and his allies in georgia. everybody from president trump and his lawyer, rudy giuliani, everybody on down, is hyping this whack a doodle conspiracy theory about a random atlanta election worker and her being the mastermind of the crime. doing that in order to justify getting republican officials in georgia to overturn the election results and say trump won. that election worker is getting threatened like you cannot believe. she is in fear for her life under an onslaught of harassment and threats. in the midst of that three peop

the video recorded at a police station shows the 62-year-old freeman with a woman that threatened freeman that people were going to disrupt her freedom. and as unbelievable as it may sound,cutty is a publicist for kanye west who is friends with donald trump. cutty showed up saying she was sent by a high profile individual to give freeman an urgent message, confess to trump's voter fraud allegations or people would come to her home in 48 hours and she would go to jail. that's why they agreed to meet at a police station where cutty put freeman on the phone with someone that tried to get freeman to implicate herself in committing voter fraud on election day. despite their attempts to indim -- intimidate, according to freeman, the fbi called her the next day and urged her to leave her home of 20 years because it wasn't safe. freeman describes in a lawsuit how she left hours before a mob of angry trump supporters surrounded her home shouting through bull horns. she's moved from house to house in fear of her safety. as disturbing that is, it's one part of the intimidation act against freeman an
