what happened with jessy and charles freemont was that they were made incredibly healthy because they sold this gold mine for more than $4 million which would be worth a lot more than $4 million now. almost immediately, fremont sunk most of that money into a very bad investment in a railroad company and they lost it. jessie began writing stories and books to make money. she wrote about all of the famous people but never wrote about lincoln again. she hated him because what he did to her husband. she wrote about the other famous people and sold her stories. fremont finally did get a pension after the war but died within a week of having that awarded to him. so jessie continued to write. she was in los angeles and he died in a flat in new york city. they canned not afford to send his body back to california so he was buried on the hudson river across from a huge estate they had owned. her ashes were sent there to be spread ten years later. the general o
