let's take a look at some of the winners because you mentioned them, connell, freeport-mcmoran, newmonte were winners on the s&p 500. freeport-mcmoran, for example, in the materials sector, sold off interest in a metals mine, that strengthened their balance sheet. the laggards, williams, vertex and big moves to the downside. we have 54% moves to the downside for endopharma. the trade commission looked at them and others more illegally brocking lower cost versions of some of the branded drugs. now the dow, it's positive for the year, and we're looking at the dow winners, verizon, caterpillar and walmart. verizon's up 17%, caterpillar up 13 percent. walmart, well, the only good news is they're returning cash to shareholders with a $2 annual dividend. american express, boeing came under pressure, all down roughly 13%. we've seen the investment banks getting hit hard, and there's no doubt they've been hurt with bonds, stock, commodities, a very accommodative central bank, janet yellen talks about lower rate hikes, and that's weakened the dollar. connell: interesting. thanks, nicole. we do h

the same global forces a lot of stock like freeport, producer of copper, dpold and oil come back fromt's the same thing that resuscitated chemours. they trade together. when the company reported february 23 they managed to beat revenue expectations. management gave more optimistic guidance noting the head winds like titanium dioxide could turn into tail winds. once the cycle goes i have seen it go like this. at the same time the restructuring efforts they were working. company is on track to deliver $2 millionle in cost out kuts and they are in the process of laying off 5% of the global work force on top of more expensive facilities in the united states being closed down. what do we do? many initial buyers who picked this up were washed out as were manile people in the commodity stocks. the rebound since then is all about the comeback of commodities and they are layered in the company's restructuring efforts. the expectations have come way down. that's how goldman could upgrade the stock citing a low valuation, bottoming of the ti-2 pricing and the company's cost cutting efforts. even
