we're at 52 in fremont. 55 in berkeley. 57 up in petaluma. it looks like we're going to top out today in those upper 50's for most. i think the coast could actually stay down and just be in those mid 50's. then there's tonight when it's going to get very chilly, particularly if you are in the areas in dark purple. so my interior valleys in the north bay under a freeze warning. so are those eastern santa clara hills. and then you can see the frost advisories for good portion of the north bay, the peninsula, the south bay and the east bay. what that means is if you're in the frost advisory area, we could see temps between about 32 35. the freeze warning we're talking about getting down to or below the freezing mark in the overnight tonight. so these are the lows that i'm looking out for tonight. you can see up in santa rosa, the potential 30 degrees. so this is frigid cold. make sure you are prepared for this and make sure you're taking care as we go into the next few nights because frankly, it's not just tonight that we're going to have those

mostly mid- to upper 30s east of the oakland hills, around 40 degrees for fremont and redwood city, not as cool in the santa clara valley. those temperatures bounce back quickly through tomorrow afternoon, mid- to upper 50s. we start off maybe 6 or 7 degrees below normal and only end up 2 or 3 degrees below average, should see plenty of sunshine throughout the day and only a 5-degree difference between the coolest spots along the coast and the warmest locations farther inland. let's look at our side-by-side forecast models, the european and american. we compare them to see where they agree hopefully and where they disagree and have to sort out the differences. they have some pretty big differences heading into wednesday. the american forecast model sends the first wave of moisture to our south. the european forecast model tells a slightly different story. they come into better agreement for thursday with the rain moving in. it's just differences in terms of intensity of the rain. that european model brings more rain and wind to the bay area. they both agree the rain will gradually taper
