fremont. a horrific crash has killed a toddler and injured at least two other people. the accident happened about 1:00 this afternoon on paseo padre parkway. that street is still closed at this hour. cara liu is there. you spoke to a witness. what did she see? >> reporter: she tells me when she ran up to try to help she found a toddler lifeless, still strapped to his car seat just a few feet away from the back half of this car here. to give you a sense of the scene, a lot of it is still out here now. the front half is in the street. the impact from this crash was so violent it split car in half. the back end landed some 15, 20 feet away from the front half. debris is scattered. the red honda was driving down paseo padre when it hit a tree so hard the car split. a woman who lives nearby says she saw the car speeding moments before the crash. she found the man lying in the street, a woman trapped in the passenger seat and the toddler in his car seat in the back half of the car. >> i was spooked. i have my own son. you shouldn't speed at all. there's no point for it. >> reporter: investigators tell us an offduty doctor stopped to help and started cpr bef
