back in february, spirit announced plans to merge with frontier airlines.esterday, jet blue swooped in with a better offer. jetblue wants to buy spirit for $3.6 billion plus $55 extra for carry-on. [ laughter ] the jetblue ceo said "customers shouldn't have to choose between a low fare and a great experience, and jetblue has shown it's possible to have both," and spirit airlines has shown it's not. [ laughter ] spirit in real estate terms, is what you'd call a "fixer-upper." it'd be a clash in cultures for sure. spirit is a budget airline, no frills. ever fly spirit? jetblue offers things like free wifi, snacks, drinks and has a real bathroom instead of a bucket that everyone passes around. this may just represent -- look at american airlines, spirit and frontier, all talking about there beingre on their finances because of the rise in oil prices. this is going to spread to the consumers, what do you see in terms of the likes of gasoline, aviation fuel and diesel? stephen: there is one benchmark i like to look at, u.s. diesel prices. they are at a seasonal high, and all-time high for this year. that is indicative of something around the world. refiners have to get their hands on oil, there is not as much oil as there was before, crude prices are rising. when they get that oil they produce products like gasoline, diesel. it is going to mean more expensive, and that will weigh on the budgets for consumers. it will hit regular people. this was a big problem last year. energy, natural gas and oil, those higher prices because of the war in ukraine had pushed up inflation. that had eased over the last few months. but that fear, that problem that is coming back into the market, it will be something that governments will have to deal with. biden administration will have to deal wit
