and we have more from gabe guttierez. >> reporter: this morning as the investigation intensifies in new renewed scrutiny over tech giants and to control violent content. this is all we'll show you of the 17 horrifying minutes streamed on faecebook live. police urged that the link not be shared, but hours later the link was still visible on social media platforms. >> they claim they are surprised by this. there is no sur bryprise. they have had the ability to stop it. >> reporter: facebook admits it was police that alerted them to the video and they quickly remove the gun man's facebook and instragram accounts. the company says teams from across facebook have been working around the clock and are adding each video we find to an internal database which enables us to detect and automatically remove copies of the videos. other companies also say they have rigorous processes in place to manage and remove flagged videos. >> you are looking at some like a game of whac-a-mole where it keeps popping up in different places. >> facebook says it was alerted to this video by the new zealand police.
