gabe kapler remains undefeated. but ultimate crystal ball question here.f we can get through all of this in a few months, is there a target date to start the baseball season? i heard some people whispering july 1. but it may be later than that. and how many games would you have to play to have a meaningful season and go into a postseason? >> you know, larry, i think that if you go back in history, the resumption of baseball through crises, even going back to 1918 with the spanish flu and the end of world war i, baseball has created a healing, soothing tonic for this country and in local communities too. if you go back to the earthquake here in '89, or 9/11 around the country. so the answer is we want to get some kind of season in. if you can have a respectable number of games and get to have a win and wild card, et cetera, and have a postseason, i think it would be great healing for the country. and it would be different. but everybody knows these are extraordinary circumstances. so i don't want to pin a date on it. there is discussion of possibly resuming

gabe kapler was starting to feel comfortable with what he could expect from his team, but now, like the rest of us, he's waiting to see what eventually becomes of the season, and what is appropriate to make that a priority. >> obviously we would love to have a date to work back from to get our players fully ready for the major-league season. we don't have that and we don't have expection out of it, we want to stay in peak physical condition independent of baseball. >> >> reporter: is a fair question to ask with no organized workouts and shelter in place being practiced, how do you do that? when players finally get a green light, how long will it take them to get ready for games that count? >> there is no how long will it take, every player is an individual, they get ready for the season differently. i was an outfielder. if you told me to get ready to come in to play games and play games safely, on day one of spring training, i would be able to do that. the way i would be able to do that is by running full speed, four or five times a day. take five or six high-intensity swings to simulat
