joining me to discuss all of this from the independent women's forum is gail trotter herself.eet you. you tore it up. even the crowd was getting involved and were you surprised by the reaction you got? >> i was surprised by the reaction but i was delighted because i think this view is not something that the media is covering. i think it is something that people haven't really considered and i really wanted to speak to women about this very important constitutional right and explain to them the cases. i had an appendix which had 21 examples of women defending themselves against violent attack with firearms. >> sean: this is the one thing probably on this show that we are have done that most others in the media have not done and we have been highlighting cases of people defending themselves. the most recent case is the woman in georgia. a guy breaks into her house and she goes up into the crawl space with her twins and she is shaken and has a revolver and that saved their lives potentially. >> and my critics criticized what i said because i said there could be multiple attackers

>> jon: one of memorable moments during the senate gun control hearing a confrontation between gail trotternd democratic senator sheldon white house. she got a lot of reaction. joe scarborough says she looked like a jackass. >> that would be liberal media taking her. she held her own. she got klob ird including jon stewart. the national rifle association should take note, she better spokesman pr them wayne and all the rest of those types. she made it personal. >> jon: even judy is nodding in agreement? >> i think wayne lapeer has done hawaii his cause a lot of harm, attacking background checks that he used to support and not seeming to care about the victims in this. i agree with you. she was much more effective. >> jon: what about gabrielle giffords? >> i think it was tremendous tv. someone who has a story and back story that the american people know and the halting manner of speech it was compelling tv. i think it was unfortunate that more lapere had to try to countered act it. it was abrasive in the prior press conference, he still acts as if, you guys are the ones who are in violation.

as you saw, gail trotter's wild imaginings about the assault toting mom was completely fictional.he and lindsey graham at yesterday's senate hearing could not come up with a single case of a mother or father or any one else successfully defending themselves not one case. but there was an important point made about women and mother's and guns in that hearing yesterday and it came from one of the vices of sanity at the witness table. >> statistics show that when females are killed it is more likely over 50% of the time to be by a spouse or household member. statistics show that there is a 500% chance that that person will be victimized by gun violence. among those women killed buy a house hold member by a gun she bought herself and kept in her home was the mother of the young man in newtown, connecticut. joining me now is joy read. joy, one of the anecdotes that was thrown around a lot was about sara mccainly who defended herself and her baby with her gun. and ms. trotter used that and had no idea what kind of gun she used. let's listen to that. >> miss trotter quick question sara m

[ bell chimes ] [ applause ] >> stephanie: talking to you gail trotter, or whatever your name is sequester and one about global warming. the sequester the indiscriminate nature seems a little tough, but the idea of cutting half a trillion dollars in our defense budget seems like a really good step in the right direction, particularly as we're talking about gun control and things of that nature. to my mind if we as a nation are saying we're opposed to the idea of killing children and guns as we're sort of promoting global terrorism with our military it's the same thing although we're killing children in other countries. >> stephanie: i don't think the point of our military is to promote global terrorism. are you talking about drones? >> caller: sure drones. we talk about people from other nations, regardless of where they are, if they want to attack us, we refer to them as terrorists, yet we go all over the globe, and by drone strikes or cause other attacks on other counts they are aren't necessarily attacking us isn't that sort of terrorism. >> there is a lot less collateral dama
