mandy gaither, wyff oconee county. gabrielle: two former upstate police officers face charges, nine months after they were fired in connection with an excessive force complaint. the state law enforcement division charged former honea path police officers robert shaw and josh bell with misconduct in office. the sentence for a conviction on that charge is up to ten years in prison. sled's warrants say the men lied about the manner i iwhich they arrested brian hatcher in november of 2014, for failure to stop for a blue light. hatcher's family told wyff 4 that his nose was broken, and his jaw was shattered during the arrest. nigel: police say a man was found dead this morning in a cherokee county park. 82-year-old howard lee talley was found by police this morning at mccluney park. that's on granite drive. the coroner says talley appeared to have been there since late last night. officials believe he suffered a medical condition. they do not think the cold death, and they do not suspect foul play. gabrielle: seven people w

now, let's go to pickens county, where mandy gaither is live, bringing us an update on the conditions there. mandy: it is wet and slushy, and it is only going to get worse as the temperatures continue to do it. it started around noon in pickens county and oconee county , and we have seen the roadways covered in/, a dangerous situation, and we saw many drivers going slow, others not, road. there was one person out before the wintry mix started coming >> it was pretty slushy. there were about 10 cars that were pulled up or slid off the road. mandy: as you heard, it caused some major issues in pickens county around easily high school. my friend sent me a video of the aftermath of a tree coming down on the power live there, and they tell me there were sparks coming from that area when the tree hit the power line. power was out for him and many of his neighbors for a little more than an hour, but he says it is now back on. live in clemson. gabrielle: mandy, thank you. power outages are being reported. nigel: there are outages in 12,000, spartanburg 250, pickens county 1800, anderson county

it was only the fourth time in 54 years they've been carol: wyff news 4's mandy gaither shows us the problems all that water was causing. she has more from anderson county. mandy: before the flood gates opened, the water came up to here at portman marina, covering the docks and walkways. in fact, crews are still using rock to fill in the parts that were washed away. this is what one dock looked like before the hartwell flood and this is what it looks like now. the water here, dropping around 3 to five feet the past few days. it had been at 662 feet, two feet over what's considered full pool during the summer months, which left only three feet of storage for any more rainfall. with this past weekend's forecast, the u.s. army corps of engineers decided to go ahead and open the floodgates to be safe. >> we were pushing about 35,000 cubic feet per second downstream, just trying to get more storage up on hartwell itself. mandy: the floodgates have only been opened four times in the past 54 years, in 1964 and 1994, then in 2013, and then, on friday through this morning. the water passed do

mandy gaither, wyff news 4 live in anderson county. gabrielle: the superintendent in anderson county of schooldistrict three has resigned and accepted a job with greenville county schmason gary will be deputy superintendent of greenvillecounty school districts. he will start his new job on july 1. he has 27 years of experience in south carolina pc schools. nigel: deputies say a car chase led to a crash in anderson county this morning. they say it happened on wham road. according to deputies, the suspect was trying to avoid stop sticks on the road. backing his car into one of the deputies' cars. deputies say no one was injured. charges are pending against the driver. in hendersonville, a firefighter had to respond to a fire at his own home last night. dwight hill has served as a firefighter with valley hill fire and rescue for more than 30 years. hill and his father and three brothers all have served at that station. he said he was shocked to work a fire at his own home. hill says the home on stanwood lane is a total loss. gabrielle: in
