still in the 90's where you see the red along the eastern shore and west of us like gaithersburg, frederick. everyone else is in the mid to upper 80's. in the 70's in the mountains to the west. but this evening, a cold front is approaching. the high pressure that give this a great few days here with comfortable conditions is sliding out of the picture. the cold front is approaching and the chances for rain increase. this will take place during part of this weekend, not the entire weekend. looking at the general map, there's not a lot of rain to the west associated with the front of the great lakes. a lot of the moisture is being cut off, but some heat and humidity is coming into the picture. the way the jet stream is arranged, the central part of the nation, all this hot, humid weather is in the central part of the region and we are still relatively cool as the jet stream take a dip to the south. as we get into the hot stuck with higher range chances, of the next 24-48 hours. temperatures up 100 degrees in the central plains and the heat is coming our way. tonight, warmer than yesterday, mi

that was in gaithersburg. notice how it lifted up and cleared out. we're starting to get some of those fairweather patchy cumulus clouds. there will continue to develop. this is the cloud cover that we typically get on a normal july day. that means it is hot and muggy. the dewpoint for the most part are in the mid-to-upper-60's. reagan national right now is 90 degrees. so far this is our 19th day of 90 degrees and up. last year, we had the all-time record time of 67 days for the season. we average about 36 days of 90 degrees. a few little blips on the radar screen in southern pennsylvania which is typical in the higher terrain, and on those ridges and valleys. we will see that into west virginia as well in the early afternoon. there will be more scattered action locally. it will be enormously wrong today. there is that action down in florida. part of it is a typical atmosphere disturbance in the middle of the sky. that will track of the eastern seaboard through tomorrow and into early part of saturday. it will spin up a coastal low pressure system. t

this happened saturday night at a family get together at a house along steven court in gaithersburg. police say it started with an argument between 24-year-old brandon dashiell and justin carter. investigators say dashiell hit carner in the head several times, leaving him unconscious. carter was rushed to the hospital, where he later tied. >>> new from overnight as well, what started as a domestic dispute has now ended with two people dead, including a memphis police officer. police were responding to the second disturbance call of the night at the doubletree hotel in the memphis entertainment district when shots rang out. timothy warren, an eight-year veteran of the force, was hit, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. another man was shot and killed in the crossfire. memphis police say they do have one man in custody. >>> 5:09 is the time right now. 74 degrees out there. still ahead this morning, strong arguments in the casey anthony trial. >>> good morning. there's capitol hill under a mostly cloudy sky on this fourth of july morning here in the nation's capital.

now it looks like we'll probably have showers lingering into saturday morning. 78 here in town, gaithersburg frederick not fairly represented. the readings didn't come. in frederick is down in the lower 70s, manassas 72 degrees. you can see where the rain has been, big thunderstorms moving through richmond today. they have plenty of rain and down through eastern sections of north carolina and out towards the cape. all of this is basically there's a bit of a weak frontal boundary in here, kind of washed out. most of the rain was along that front which basically included up to national this morning. they picked up less than .1- inch. that moved out and it ended up south of us. we do have that little washed out frontal boundary, but south of us is where all the real deep moisture and instability is. a big area of high pressure offshore we call the bermuda high. it reaches down and brings in a lot of atlantic moisture. it also brings in gulf of mexico moisture, too much that's where all the showers and storms have been the last several days through the deep south. again it looks like we'll get a
