bruce leshan joins us live from covenant church in gaithersburg with more. bruce? >> reporter: yeah mike. really just an incredibly sad day out here at covenant life church. but the one thing a lot of mourners are taking comfort in is the fact that officer leotta died doing what he loved. taking drunk drivers off the road. hundreds and hundreds of motorcycle officers and others escorted his family and body here to the church. the church is back to overflowing family members that are now remembering remarkable days with this young man who was just 24 years old and only two years on the force. he raised his hand and volunteered to serve on the holiday drunk driving task force. he was out on the road on december 3. he had somebody pulled over. when somebody else, a suspected drunk driver smashed in to his car and in to him. leotta spent nearly a week on life support at suburban hospital before his family decided to let him go. his organs donated to give life to others. a lot of people out here talking about maryland's drunk driving laws. among the weakest in the natio
