we then went to the galapagos islands visited during the 1800s by charles darwin. islands sea lions and penguins and more types of birds than one can imagine frolic and play right on top of the equator, and within arm's reach of the human inviters. the isolateed galapagos islands are about the only remaining environment where a giant land "t" can survive. they're relics of a distant past. what have these two adventures got to do with each other? evolve or die. species likewise, all because they failed to evolve and adapt and failed to recognize that new environment and changed circumstances required the risk of new ideas and new approaches. of course this metaphor does not apply just to ancient cityies and species of birds. it applies to us and it's the type of metaphor for the type of leadership that we need. sometimes yet too rarely politicians are willing to break the mold experiment and think afresh. recall fdr's famous statement. take a method and try it. if it fails admit it frankly and try another. but above all try something. from the distance of south amer
