herbst officially takes over in galena on july first. schools in eastern iowa are moving ahead with approved plans or revising future plans after bond votes. college community school district leaders watched a substantial measure pass easily last night.. in the bond vote yesterday, 68% supported the issue. that's well over the 60% it some district leaders waited for the final voting results at the linn county auditor's office last night. they used their phones to keep up with the math as each site reported in. the district is now getting $49.5 million dollars from the passed vote. the district plans to use the money to add 20 classrooms to the high school and update safety and security systems in 3 of its elementary schools. "the next step is you really get serious with architects and you start planning and phasing out the construction project, so the fun part has begun." last year, voters narrowly rejected a similar bond issue. the district says it needs this extra space as enrollment continues to grow. this vote means property taxes wi
