and garret graves, chairman of the coastal protection and restoration authority of louisiana. he's also the state's lead trustee for a collective effort by five gulf states and the federal government to assess the spill's environmental impact. david valentine, i'll start with you, give us an overview, first, of the state of the spill area two years later. >> well, the state of the spill area we know that there is still significant damage that occurred. much of the oil that came out, rough 5 million barrels, much of that went away. it went to the atmosphere. it was degraded by light or degraded by microorganisms. but much of it landed in places like marshes, beaches, the sea floor and the deep ocean. and so there are pockets of damage that are still there. there are areas that are still seeing the impacts, although maybe not as wide spread as had been initially feared. >> brown: garret graves, where do you see the lingering effects? >> with you know, in terms of louisiana we have an excess of 175, nearly 200 miles of our coastal remains oiled, including close to 15 miles of hea

cecil, west toward garret. that's where we have very cold conditions, humidity dry, right around the 20% range. here it is for you. most active weather has remained bottled up to the soup. cold front over southern virginia and most of the weather has been no closer than really the north carolina border. down toward the raleigh, durham area. you can seat center of the circulation of the main storm that once upon a time was churning, huge storms in to texas now. more garden variety thunderstorms, second area of low pressure over tennessee area moving in to western north carolina, both areas drifting south of maryland but wrapping in or pulling in cooler air out of the north. out of canada. it'll be much chillier tonight and tomorrow night. we will have bright sun for the game. really not bad by opening day standards in april and crystal clear through your friday flight into saturday with another cold start by looks like blue skies again to kick off the weekend and we may get to the lower mid60s saturday. overnigh
