is that right, garrett? >> that is right. but really last night was the polar opposite of what we have been seeing for much of the previous nights here in ferguson. there were six arrests but that's compared to 47 arrests the night before. police say the crowds were smaller as well and that they were much more peaceful. they were down to around 800 compared to the several hundred that we have been seeing through out the last week. police say wethere weren't any major clashes between police and protestors. captain ron johnson called it a another small step in the right direction. >> tonight was a very good night in ferguson. crowds are smaller. they were calm. we had to respond to fewer incidents tonight. there were no molotov cocktails no fires no shootings. we did not see the single hand guns. there were no confrontations. >> several supporters of darren wilson who shot michael brown and showed up to the protest as well they were quickly whisked away by police for their own safety after other protestors began to surround the

garrett? >> it was a relatively calm night for much of the evening until police recognized one man in the crowd who they say was the agitate tore in previous days. they went after him, tackled him and the remaining crowd of protestors began throwing urine filled water bottles at the officers. community leaders, though, stepped in, separated the two crowds. they kept it from boiling to a point which we have seen the last several nights. captain ron johnson called this a turning point for the protests in ferguson. protestors did not throw molotov cocktails instead the urine filled police officers. police officers did not throw the smoke grenades with the tear gas canisters. they used limited amounts of pepper spray. captain ron johnson said it is safe for the community leader that is it happened. oo too there were no molotov cocktails tonight. there were no shootings, no smoke bombs, no tear gas and tonight once again no police officers fired a single bullet. >> and police had 47 people they arr

garrett tenny reports eric holder will visit ferguson tomorrow as the family of brown is planning his funeral. >> reporter: protests over the police shooting of an unarmed man had given way to riots and looting on a nightly basis. now eric holder is taking the lead to stop the turmoil here. ferguson will stop by to meet with officials carrying out the federal investigation into michael brown's at the time. a third autopsy has been performed for the justice department by an experienced military medical examiner. dozens of fbi agents are combing ferguson for witnesses to the shooting and the national guard is in the area as well. lawyers for brown's family are demanding immediate charges be filed against a police officer who shot and killed their son. they claim the private autopsy revealed earlier this week is all the evidence they need. >> i agree it was excessive force because of six bullet wounds. which is more than usually necessary to stop a person from any bad behavior. just in general, of course the fact that the young man died. >> reporter: a grand jury could begin hearing evid

good morning, garrett. >> reporter: good morning. this source who is close to the head of ferguson's police department says that officer darren wilson suffered an eye fracture and was beaten severely by michael brown moments before he fired and eventually killed michael brown. now, this comes after several other accounts we've heard of this story. it matches up along with those. the account of this source says that when officer wilson pulled up to michael brown and his friend dorian johnson, that they -- the officer asked them to get out of the middle of the road, and they ignored him. and then the officer, he started to get out of his car to tell them to get out of the road again. and at that point, the source says they, quote, shoved him right back in. and that's when michael brown leans in and starts beating officer wilson in the head and the face. end quote. the source goes on to say that when brown started to walk away, that's when officer wilson drew his gun and ordered him to freeze at which point brown said, "what, are you go
