garrett, thank you very much. well, pack a bag and just wait and wait and wait. more than 5,000 flights either canceled or delayed just due to this storm. to rick leventhal at laguardia airport, where he has now set up an office on this mess. rick, what's the latest there? >> reporter: yeah, neil the numbers are staggering and they've been going up all day. according to flightaware laguardia's one of the worst offenders with more than 600 flights canceled at this one airport today alone. nearly 600 at newark and about 150 at jfk. these lines behind me are not to get on planes. these lines are for customer assistance. these people are trying to get out of town and are having a really tough time. according to flight aware, with the 5,000 flights canceled, that's a million seats impacted affecting more than 600,000 travelers nationwide dealing with delays and cancellations. new york did not get a lot of snow in this storm, but the storm was bad enough to force airlines to start grounding planes as early as yesterday afternoon and many of those aircraft never made it
