the only close by significant shower activity out here in northern west virginia, just west of garrett county. other than that not much happening in the east. there are some showers to the south and east draped across the coastal states of the carolinas, the coastal areas of the carolinas. high pressure continues to nudge. as this settles in, we'll continue to see a little bit more of a clear sky scenario and looking at temperatures to bounce back and warm up a bit a disturbance continuing to keep the showers. the trend will be quiet. a hit or miss shower will be possible, but not likely. again, just that one isolated shower we saw earlier in calvert cliffs. looks like a better setup for pop-up showers and a couple of thunder showers. a lot of that could and up being in the western half of the state. still maybe a shower by tomorrow afternoon. friday looks like we'll trend very dry. looks like temperatures will really bounce upward and heat up as we see the clouds clearing on friday. also, where's the active weather. the jet stream has taken a big dip south. no tropical storm activity at the

the coldest spot on the map near garrett county. 55 in frostburg.ds starting to pick up. 10 to 12 miles per hour from frostburg to oakland. 21 miles per hour in easton. around 8 miles per hour downtown in baltimore. those winds picking up as the storm system sits up to our north of that's actually bringing a few clouds our way as well. you can see on the satellite picture, those clouds building in from the west. right now mostly sunny in baltimore. a few clouds could make it into the city by afternoon. that storm system sits up to our north. the storm system that brought the severe weather is well off shore. high pressure down to the east. a warm front lifting across the plains. all this activity will eventually move into the east. for now our big focus is on the storm. it is basically cut off from the rest of the atmosphere. what that means is, it is not able to move forward. storms normally progress from west to east. as you see, it is sitting and spinning in a counter clockwise direction. it is spinning showers around the great lakes region. a ba

a few showers out in west virginia and parts of garrett county. a set up for the rain that is on the way. some good storms down in the carolinas. some strong storms in western tennessee and kentucky as well. more on that in a moment. changes are coming in the weather. the beautiful weather we have had for the past few days is grinding to a halt. the average temperatures so far this month has been 68.4 degrees, 1.1 degrees below normal. we are little above normal for rainfall, not quite half an inch. we do have rain in the forecast tomorrow. everything you see in orange here is in that eight's to around 90 degrees. the yellow shade you see, the yellow and green out to the west is where the clouds have been bigger and there is some rain out there. you can see the cooling effect of that out in western maryland and west virginia and virginia at this time. here is the satellite image. there is a front sitting over the delaware bay so we have a wind shift that has helped generate a little sprinkles an isolated showers on the eastern shore. this moisture

i'm not seeing any lightning in the frederick area, but here in garrett county there's a severe thunderstorm warning. this goes until 10:30. this storm could produce 60- mile an hour winds and some hail moving southeast at 25 miles an hour. what is ahead the rest of the night? we've got a front that has to move through. there are still a couple showers and storms with that. still very warm at 76, but even more so than the temperatures, the humidity is really uncomfortable and we're about to do something about that, too. that muggy air will get pushed out of town by a cold front that will move through overnight. so tomorrow, bottom line, not so humid, a little breezy and we'll chase some of these showers out of town for a bit. i'll let you know when our next chance of showers is, but i think that tropical feel you're soaking up tonight will be long gone by the time we get to 9:00 tomorrow morning. that will be a big improvement for a lot of people. >> good riddance. thanks, sue. >>> all eyes on virginia tonight, the first step in the path back to capitol hill for george allen, a former senato
