garth langley: thanks you so much for having us. damian: we have some amazing video from years past of fleet week. talk about what we're seeing here and what can we expect to see this year. garth: well, you know, we're bringing back the 35th annual san francisco fleet week, a long-time san francisco maritime tradition, of course brought to you in 1981 by then-mayor diane feinstein. you know, in the last decade or so, we really re-shaped fleet week. you know, it's not only a time to celebrate our armed forces, but it's an opportunity to train. and ongoing this week, we have a number of training opportunities, including, you know, helicopter demonstrations, working with civic agencies and how we would respond to a major earthquake or other natural disaster that we know is probably going to face this region soon. but of course, we have a lot of fun events, you know. military bands throughout the city, the service members are lining the streets. of course the air show will be back thursday for practice and a full air show friday, saturd

but for more information we are joined by garth langley.a local young man who grew up watching sal castaneda. welcome home. thank you for your service to our country. when we talk about fleet week, everybody wants to know about the blue angels. >> of course obviously the blue angels bring a home show. they arrived last week. i think we had your crew out there. it was exciting to have them back. we have a really big event this year. we are excited to showcase our military. >> one of the pilots is a tale. >> that is correct. >> first female pilot. what is hour name? >> captain katie chicagoens. >> what has been the report been from katie? >> i would say a resounding applause for her. everybody seems to take aaffinity for fat albert. >> have you ever seen the movie top gun? >> yes. it's a standard. >> good. i don't feel so old. >> i feel the need for speed. >> okay. but blue angels has to be a great recruiting tool for young men and women who are interest third-degree pursuing this or -- interest in pursuing this. >> absolutely. we focus on br

but to talk more about what will be happening later on today i'm here with garth langley who is a public affairs officer. thank you for waking up with us. what can people expect when they come here? we are talking about parking as well. talk all about that. >> reporter: we are expecting thousands of people for 35th annual san francisco fleet week. it's bigger and better than any previous year. we have more than 2,000 marines and sailors in town. this day is a big one. we have the parade of ships coming on at 11:00. the blue angels will be featured during the fleet week air show from 12:30 to 4:00. they will go live at 3:00. there are military bands performing throughout the city. we will be going to st. anthony's this morning. a lot of good activities. there will be a lot of people so we encourage people to take public transportation. we have partnered with lift for fleet fest. we have a code fleet week sf that we encourage the public to use to get around of course driving is going to be difficult but come along to marina green and see your military. >> you got to help me out. when is th
