we're also hearing from the governor's acting counsel, beth garvey, who said once again, that this woman filed a formal complaint and therefore, it is procedural for the state to notify the authorities. that's what happened here. and as you know, this is just one of many headlines in the past couple of days involving the governor. right now, six women have come forward accusing him of inappropriate behavior. he has denied doing anything wrong. and he has apologized if he made anyone feel uncomfortable. he said he never touched anyone inappropriately. right now the a.g.'s office is spearheading the investigation. there are two attorneys, outside attorneys. one of them, a former acting u.s. attorney who is now part of team. they are now looking into these growing allegations. eventually they will have to put this into a report and it will be made public once that information is gathered. it could take some time. >> let me ask but the governor's impeachment or perhaps resignation. you mentioned he's denied the allegations. the cheryl of the democratic party, i want to read a part of this st

a special counsel to the governor beth garvey saying the out of facility data was omitted after doh cannotit had been verified. this did not change the conclusion of the report. joining me now is one of the reporters behind that "wall street journal" article jimmy vealkin. thanks for going on the show. >> thanks for having me. >> explain to what your new findings add to what we previously knew about this nursing home situation with new york state officials. >> well, this data about out of facility nursing home deaths had been sought for months by state lawmakers, federal officials, as well as just the families of people whose loved ones died in nursing homes. so the disclosure that these data were considered and then rejected for publication in this july report by the health department indicates that, one, the cuomo administration possessed this information as early as july and seems logical to say june because the report was issued so early in july, and, two, that there was a robust debate between public health officials in the state health department and close aides to the governor who d

at one point his counsel beth garvey answered questions on his behalf when it comes to the questionson purposely withheld nursing home data. it will be interesting to see how much talking his lawyer does in this telephone press conference. but again, when you speak to people, not many people expect him to resign, frankly. when you are talking to the politicians or whatnot there is a feeling that the tide has turned since the sixth accuser alleges that there was aggressive groping. obviously we are seeing the tide turning with the number of new york congressional delegates coming out now. the majority of them. speaking out against them. there are multiple avenues here, harris. i mean, you have some that are actually suggesting that perhaps the lieutenant governor kathy hokel should come in temporarily in the attorney general independent investigation until the findings come out. and there is question whether it's constitutional. he could step down and kathy hochul could take over. if they don't find any wrongdoing, the governor could retake his power. constitutional questions on that

did not -- undercut the conclusion of that report, so that's been the official response from beth garvey governor's counsel. so we will see whether or not that carries water going forward. certainly the governor cannot be happy with this sort of reporting. it kind of undercuts his, you know, political message that nursing homes were actually doing better than most of the rest of the parts of the country, and it goes to a point of whether or not he is credible. >> before we talk about what it means for him. ese, federal prosecutors and the fbi are looking into the handling of that nursing home data. what are they looking for? >> well, initially those probes were launched -- at least one was launched last year, one of which was launched after the state attorney general basically called attention to the fact of this under-reporting of nursing home deaths. it seems to be about the data and whether or not the state purposely misled either federal investigators or federal authorities as to the extend of deaths in nursing homes. that seems to be the focus of it. >> mara, about ten months ago go
