gary dennis kendall. he graduated from high school in 1965, went on to attend u.c. davisnd cal state chico shortly afterwards. he joined the sheriff's department in 1971. in 1975 he married his wife irene and together they raised three children, josh, michelle and alice. in 1990 he was elected sheriff of yuma county. he taught at butte college and served as assistant coroner in marin county. even after retiring from public service he continued to serve his community as an active member of the kiwanis club, helping with little league and boy scouts. he was a devoted family man and paragon of his community from his outstanding public service, to volunteer, to keeping the streets safe, his influence was fell everywhere. i send my deepest condolences to gary's family and everyone who knew him. this ideal american man will be dearly missed. may he rest in esister-in-law peace. i yield back. the speaker pro tempore: for what purpose does the gentlewoman from georgia seek recognition? >> i ask unanimous consent to address the house for one minute and revise and extend my remarks
