gary gensler has pursued a sweeping regulatory revamp from crypto assets to corporate disclosure. from the cii perspective, the leadership has greatly advanced. maintaining fair orderly and efficient markets and capital formations. and the reforms spearheaded with long-standing policies that strengthen corporate governance. i will briefly highlight two of the critical reforms and why they benefit the members and long-term investors generally. the first is universal proxy. november, 2021, the commission adopted. the rule established a more level playing field for those investors. when there is a contest, the names of all candidates must appear on the proxy card. this allowed all to vote with a combination of director candidates they believed that it served their economic interest. the final rule reflected many of the points they raised when we filed our rulemaking petition for the universal proxy back in january of 2014. when there is a contest or emergency, proposing shots should use the card that means all management nominees and all shareholder opponents. the cii and many market
