this is something gary johnson who ran as a libertarian candidate in the last cycle he talked about thisa of there is no -- there's going to be all this deep seated division on guns and drugs so why not let states form lay different laws and see what works best. i generally am not in favor of stricter gun control. i don't think there's unequivocal evidence yet that it actually reduces crime just as i don't think more guns produce less crime. i don't think the evidence is quite there on either side. i think justice with drug laws, this is a good development in maybe settling the debate, maybe letting states figure out different gun laws and see what works and what doesn't will finally settle there. cenk: it's very interesting how it's develop. joe, at the national level obviously, you're the washington bureau chief or deputy chief, i just want to be absolutely clear. anyway, i just wanted to get the reaction from you on the white house reaction, because they just said this: >> the president wants to find the strongest gun bill he can sign. our baseline here is what is the law today and ho
