our gary mcgrady is also st standing by in theleen dale community also a hard hit area here in stevensville. gary what are you seeing? >> well i think this is the area here a little bit before where you are anjali and we're not far from you. this is what initially took the brunt of this tornado. 110 to 160 mile an hour winds came through here and you can see the def nation all around us. none of this is touched yet. they moved debris on the other side this is a rooftop out of town. there's about four or five town homeser complete devastation. you got to think there will be complete tear down before it's all said and done. we have master beds flipped out on the decks. deck could have been taken off the town homes and districted about 50 to 60 yarz on other side of alley down closer to other town homes which by the way got a lot of damage over there. we can't see. it spin on around steve. let's show everybody here. again another rooftop. you can see in the distance here i can't get too close because there's so many nails involved here. it's all exposed. this is what it looked like after the t

>> fox5's gary mcgrady is out at the loudoun county fair. derstand that you had the chance to talk to some people about this today. >> reporter: yeah, and you got to know those that -- some knew about what happened yesterday in columbus, others didn't but those that did, it was present in their mind and really what they're thinking about is they assume that the county or the fair, whoever controls this, really does a good job in inspecting all the rides and taking care of it and i just want to put you at ease here. we're at the loudoun fairgrounds. the midway -- all the rides are operating this evening and all the rides have been inspected, too. it's the department of building and development that does all the inspections for these carnivals and fairs throughout loudoun county and think about this. i mean, this is fair season. summer and into the fall. there's going to be thousands of fairs across the country. so, they do inspect all of these rides and i just want you to know the ferris wheel has been -- all the rides here -- they've got a lo

gary mcgrady it was a little rainy earlier today. know, are things getting better. >> there's more rain coming, severe thunderstorms to the south of us. let me show you the radar picture. this same storm that we've been watching -- oh, now we have a new tornado warning so let me -- let's just go right down and deal with this. we had severe thunderstorm warning until 6:45. this is culpeper in orange and madison, madison it's out of there. orange i think it looks like that this basically this tornado warning has been issued for you guys. we'll just strip it clear here and we'll check out the details on this just issued tornado warning. the tornado warning is going to go for 7:15 -- until 7:15. it's for the counties of orange, obviously 'cause the storm is sitting right on top of orange now and spotsylvania, too. it's tracking to the east, it's moving at about 15 miles per hour, so it's slowed down just a little bit. this appears to be a radar indicated tornado. it's been rotating for quite awhile. just so you know, the history of this

here is gary mcgrady whether or not this storm will impact us here, what can we expect, gare?t's always the good news. i'll show you the track coming up in just a sent i don't like to say this as a meteorologist, but this storm was a complete ann utter surprise. they didn't even fly a plane, didn't have a chance to fly a plane into this storm, as she formed so rapidly this morning at 6:00 a.m. the national hurricane center down in miami, said oops we have tropical depression, just off shore tampa. then at 8:00 a.m. they had to come back and say no, now weaver tropical storm emily. i mean, this is the satelite, visible satellite t goes back to this morning, does this look anything like any type after tropical system, you've ever seen in there is a dying frontal boundery down here, and the water temperature just off tampa was 86 degrees. okay? so, with all of that combined, it rapidly intensified. and the winds from thi managed to up about 39 miles per hour sustained. at least that's what they were able to track, in the bay, tampa bay. and they had a gust to about 45 miles per h

let's get right to gary mcgrady. >> that's right. just so you know we're still under the flash flood watch, but the weather service has actually whittled down a little bit of this. back out to the west they've taken parts of it down but you can still see most of the area this evening underneath this flash flood watch. i think there's still the potential that we could have rain. we've had so much rain already. primarily south of d.c. could potentially cause some problem and rain is in the forecast during the overnight hours and at least through parts of tomorrow as well. this still in effect until 2 a.m. let me show you what's out there now. we have complex thunderstorms down to the south o eastern sections of charles county. that is kind of moving to the east and to the southeast over the last several hours big thunderstorms running down towards southern maryland. matter of fact, a few tornado warnings came from this cluster of storms which is well down into southern maryland. there was a funnel cloud reported around spotsylvania. no

the ho seeing it all, gary mcgrady standing by with the look at the forecast, gary? >> it's going to stick around all weekend, it gets a little bit better, let me show you, we do have the heat advisory until 8:00 tonight and most counties along i95 and we still have pretty good heat index values up and down i95. cooled quite a bit to the west. few showers and thunderstorms out there. feels like 100 here in town. couple of thunderstorms. coming across the higher elevations having a hard time struggling, here's the weekend forecast, still going to be hot and steamy. looks like 96 for a high tomorrow, heat index will be right around 100 to 103. for a lot of locations. strong thunderstorms possible tomorrow, tomorrow afternoon, evening, another round of strong thunderstorms scattered about possibly on sunday. both days here, saturday and sunday, we some thunderstorms could become severe. so obviously, keep an eye to the sky, especially in the afternoon, both days saturday and sunday. once we get to monday, a slight chance of a thunderstorm, high of only 92 and next week,

intense and as gary mcgrady showed you last hour, those storms have a lot of lightening with them as well as a lot of heavy rainfall, let's get to it and show you radar and you can see over the bay, well to the east, we still have a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of eastern maryland, elsewhere the warnings ended, however, we're still under a severe thunderstorm watch for great area, mainly from areas to our east, the western portion now de through until 9:00 tonight and not without reason. you can see just how strong these storms are and look at the lightening that's imbedded in these storms. pretty good indication of just the potential for severe weather across our region. if you take a look there, you can see a lot of lightening strikes and we've had an awful lot of heavy local rainfall as well. that means pounding a lot on the rays, do be careful if you're driving out that way. storms are stretching to the south, take a look towards fredericksberg, spotsylvania. that's where we have to keep a close eye. we have a strong line of storms moving east about 25 miles an hour, win

gary mcgrady is at the loudoun county fair.th some people about this today. >> reporter: yeah, we sure did. you know what's most important i think is we actually talked to the superintendents here earlier when we got here loudoun county fair is out by leesburg its beautiful by the way out here and they said in lieu of what happened last night at the ohio state fare there in columbus they had inspectors come back out and double-check things this morning. it's all official. you need to know that when you go to these county fares especially right here in loudoun county this week that the inspectors have come out and they've looked at all of this and there's plenty of rides for them to look at. there's no doubt about that. i mean, you have all the tip cam rides here. you have the ferris wheels and it was inspected on monday and we have the inspection right here and it was all clear. they inspected so many things the ferris wheel, the round up, the scooter, the clifan loop of flames, the tractors, granny bugs. they went through ever

our gary mcgrady was out there along with to really see it from above and on the ground, it's just notething you see in this part of the country. but this was, in fact, an ef 2 tornado, which is a significant tornado, obviously that tear siding off the house, ruin the top floor. it even can move cars, category showed a bwi that had been lifted up because there was debris underneath the wheels and this will take time to clean up. it happened during the overnight hours late last night at 1:30 in the morning, little warning, came from the national weather service actually out of philadelphia. queen anne's county in maryland is in their jurisdiction, no fatalities and limited injuries to reports. so very unusual to see. but it has happened before. we've have tornados that strong in this area, it's been awhile. 2004 the last time there was an ef 2 magnitude or stronger in maryland. thunderstorms thankfully moving out tonight. what you see along the eastern shore should be done shortly. heat relief arrives tomorrow as we begin comfortable weather. much deserved i believe after a few weeks of

gary mcgrady helping us track this storm, gary, any chance that the renmant of this now tropical depression, could they impact us here sometime later in the week. >> i think the only impact we'll get is rough seas along the beaches from the marylander beaches, maybe the jersey shore, i mean it, will stay off shore a long way. but let me say something, too there is was a complete this satellite picture right here goes back to this morning. and nothing about this looks like it is a tropical storm. the hurricane sent her to issue advisory on tropical depression, by 8:00 had to issue advisory, oh, oh, the depression now become tropical storm emily, just off shore tampa. this is the current radar imagery. and basically, tampa, was already getting into some clear skies this afternoon. heavy rains through florida, and that will continue. but just last hour, at 5:00, downgraded, again, to a tropical depression, winds are 35 miles per hour. pretty much right now, just due east of tampa, south of orlando, the track over the next several days has her re emerging into the atlantic, and kind of running
