. >> and i'm gasia mikaelian. the love for perez and valerio were evident today in san francisco. that was the final bell which rang out at the ends of today's funeral mass for the two men. perez and valerio died last week when they were caught in a flash over while they were fighting a fire. st.mary's cathedral was filled to capacity as family, friends, and even strangers came to say goodbye. the mile long motorcade with thousands of firefighters is making the trip as well through parts of san francisco and interstate 280. the two men are being laid to rest during a private burial service at holy cross cemetery in culma. >>> there were so many powerful and emotional moments before, during and after the ceremony today. we begin with mike mibach who attended those services and is now outside of st. mary's cathedral. >> it was a very powerful funeral service that was filled with a lot of emotional moments, including the words of vince perez's alex. he told about when he heard the news that of his brothers death. he talked about how he had hoped he had been in that house with his bro

. >> reporter: well gasia, tonight the alameda city council will discuss what is listed on their agenda as the crown beach incident. here is what that is. if you look out into the water about 100 yards, that's where a man apparently suicidal waited out fully clothed as police and fire waited out here on the beach and did not attempt a rescue. it's a basic lack of action according to one retired oakland firefighter. this is a still imagine of alameda firefighters standing on the beach on memorial day while a fully clothed 52-year- old waded out into just 5 feet of water, no rescue, no apparent action to save him. >> i'm very disgusted and discouraged by the scenario. >> daniel lisker is speaking out against another fire department as a moral obligation. >> i believe it was a very simple rescue that needed to take place. >> reporter: the alameda fire department says funding cuts led to a cut in funding for water rescues. and lisker asks why other rescue teams were not called out to the scene. >> they told me dan it was strictly a matter of just walking out to this gentleman and walking hi

. >> gasia mikaelian there was a lot of excitement here at the aquarium.und the exhibit here, people hope to have appreciation for the sea otters and the overall health of the ocean. a rescued pup is now the newest star at the aquarium. at nine weeks old she is the youngest ever to be put on exhibit here, along with her substitute mother, joy. >> they have a very sweet quality about them. they're so carrying, just -- their little paws, when you clean them, very loving. >> reporter: the comfortable atmosphere hides the drauma of the pup's short life so far. she was rescued by fish and game two months ago, just a day old weighing two pounds, she didn't respond. now through all the care through the staff, she is enjoying the warmth and comfortable atmosphere of humans. >> she is learning about fish, swimming around, working with visitors. that is just amazing to watch. it changes her. >> reporter: what type of personality does she have? >> well, for a little pup, she has guts. >> reporter: they hope it shows how they maintain the eco system as well as problem
