we were at the bart station this morning when bart unveiled the new pay gates, clipper only gates aimeding people to use the clipper cards at the downtown berkeley bart station at the austin we are southernmost part of the downtown berkeley station. this is a pilot program to get the passengers to use the clipper card instead of paper tickets and 58% of the passengers use the clipper card and they want the passengers at 100% eventually. they hope the clipper only entities will reduce the wait times at the gates and sometimes the machines will jam using paper tickets and that can temporarily slow down the gate which slows it down for everyone. bart says the benefits of clipper are cute -- clear. >> we are trying to get more of the riders to use the clipper and already 60% are and we want that percentage higher. clipper is a convenient way because you can use it at all of the transit agencies and you don't have to fumble around with your changer remember the fair.>> it worked out good. >> reporter: bart is also unveiling higher glass barriers on either side of the pay gates trying to stop
