oak woodlands is a remnant forest in the northeast corner of golden gate park. it's approximately 22 acres in size. it's part of our natural areas network as well as the old growth forest network because of the quite impressive coast live oak trees in this area. the existing trails are in poor condition, and like much of the park, the soils are very sandy in that area. it will create a continuous nature trial with finding an interpretive signage and it also includes a designated multi use trail that allows for bicycle access. the proposed project will improve visual quality, access, safety, and enhance the trail experience in the oak woodlands while we also retain the rustic quality of the trail. the concept design for this project was approved by the commission in 2011. the project was put on hold so that other trail improvement projects funded by the 2008 such as glen canyon park and twin peaks could be completed. they've been kept apprised in the interim. it includes the trail than surfg that we've used successfully in other parks. there's been a major instal

i said golden gate tennis courts. that was 7 days a week from 3:00 to 8:00 at night practicing, and there is many of us -- there's a lot of us juniors that grew up playing in the bay area. a lot of us are teaching at different clubs now as we've grown up through the bay area. the tennis court was home. i think the project is an amazing gift to san francisco bay area. i'm looking forward to playing at the new facility. i bring my son there and my name is up on the plaque there in the clubhouse that is housed there right now. it was selfish for me to be here. if you're not going to keep it, i would like to have it. but they told me they're going to make, you know, a beautiful wall in memory of hopefully a lot of us juniors that have come through there and brought tennis alive in the bay area through the '70s, '80s. we're all northern california ranked. we've played all over the world. people would come to golden gate park for our talent because we had so many talented juniors, it kept us out of trouble. we only had trou
