golden gate park is a civic treasure, a space san franciscans care about.a space that san franciscans argued about for more than a 100 years. what should be there and what shouldn't be there. the reason there's a charter provision saying that the board of supervisors should weigh in on installation of permanent structures is that our voters believe that this body that represents the people and the neighborhood, san francisco, should be a place where decisions about permanent changes to golden gate park happen. i do think that a large ferris wheel sitting on the concourse for five years is a big change to golden gate park that feels pretty permanent. i'm not going to second guess the city attorney's determination that technically this doesn't need to come to the board of supervisors. i feel like a decision like this should come to the board of supervisors. supervisors representing the districts that are impacted should be consulted about a decision like this. the trouble for me is, the resolution that we have comes to a conclusion that the ferris wheel shoul
