ktvu south bay reporter jesse gary live now along the los gatos creek in los gatos with an explanation. so jesse, what happened? well, julie, a system designed to notify people in case of an emergency had a glitch that had people waking up as you said, to a possible flood alert, although the information ultimately was false. the weather conditions and a technology driven warning didn't add up wednesday under sunny skies, the national weather service posted a flood warning for a portion of the 24 mile long los gatos creek. so why would they do that? i guess that's the question. i mean, why would they put something out that i mean, if they're going to put an announcement out like that, maybe they should have some justification or some reinforcement in information on that. the alert went to the nws website showing water levels on the los gatos creek, went from one foot to 1800 feet or ocean level depth. a similar alert was issued for the santa rosa creek, where levels there were supposedly 77ft high. in both cases, the information was wrong, according to a spokesman. the system in questio
