and i have to tell you gavin newsom was talking about leadership. i can remember in 2004 when people said it was too fast too soon and too much. i'm a firm believer you've got to kick the door in and do what's right and be morale. and to those people who said we were moving two face and too soon >> now the other 13 that have it we'll have it restored again and certainly that's about a legal case but it's about more than a legal case it's about challenging the hearts and minds of people and that's where all of you come in. we won't be here if it wasn't for the community helping us change the hearts and minds of people throat this country. we had a great victory at the supreme court because where we will have equal marriage and it's struck from the ledger. now i can tell you that you'll hear some proponents talking about how they're to go and continue litigating this. we're ready to go back into court again and we'll figure out not only to have equal it here in california and we'll not rest until we have marriage equal it throughout this country (clap

it says here -- it was in the chronicle and it says "i know who killed your son, mayor gavin newsom said thursday and the da know who killed your son and the police know." this is in the article right here and it was told to me. these names are the guys that killed my son. i didn't pull these out of a hat. these are on my son's case down at bryant in his folder and these guys -- they know who shot my son. here are the names. i was given these names so how do you not know who killed my son? i didn't pull these out of a hat. these are the names of the guys and you have one of them and thomas hannibal is out there being a comedian out there and still living and i hear he's one of the guys that pull the trigger on my child and shot him 30 times. these are the names. why can't we do something? these guys are still running the street. i'm not here lying to you. go look at his folder. these are the perpetrators that killed my child. how long am i going to suffer? how long am i going to do

fast forward to 2010, i was proud at that time to ask mayor gavin newsom to spend a couple hundred thousand dollars to make sure we counted all members of our san francisco community. and who did we ask to step up to make sure that money was well spent? it was then our city administrator now mayor ed lee, adrian and folks behind us who made sure we were counting everyone who was a resident regardless of their citizenship. today we're talking about taking that next step. it's such a wonderful moment to be part of i think the celebration of who we are as a city, to be able to say now that we have gotten everyone here, we need to make sure that we get everyone through the immigration process so that they don't have to ever fear that they are not part of our body fabric, our city fabric, who we are as americans. and, so, i'm delighted to be part of this conversation and i'm delighted to represent a board of supervisors that has stood repeatedly for the idea that regardless of your citizenship you deserve a spot in san francisco. i serve on a board where over half of us are the sons and daughter
