firefighters are facing out there, gayle.h, this is the area of the hughes fire north of santa clarita. >> we continue. we are seeing drying conditions. still up 4% humidity around this area and the winds are gusting at 27 2, 30 miles per hour. that's actually stronger winds. we saw this time yesterday coming from the northeast that classic santa ana winds. now with this fire in particular, it's in the canyons and canyon fires are really hard to put out. and they do tend to create its own weather. and usually that's where we see those fire. nato's pop up. and this is the laguna fire on the west side of a ventura county here and similar conditions, dry conditions and windy conditions. and that's what we see all around los angeles and ventura areas because under red flag warnings until tomorrow morning. so it we're really not going to see a break. it's all about the dry conditions. we see a little bit of recovery overnight, but not a whole lot still in single digits tomorrow afternoon, even after that expires and the winds, you

. >> thank you, gayle. new details about the death toll in the wildfires. at least 16 people again have died. more than 12,000 buildings have been destroyed. a lot of them homes to the people killed a father and son. 67 year-old anthony mitchell was an amputee. he was found dead by his son's bedside at their home in altadena. his son justin had serveral policy relatives believe that anthony had been waiting and waiting for an ambulance to come and rescue them. another victim, a man who was found holding a garden hose and his hand after the fire spread to through his altadena neighborhood. his sister told reporters that she had tried to get her. 66 year-old brother viktor shot to evacuate with her tuesday night. but she says he told her he wanted to stay behind and try to fight the fire. his parents had lived in that home for almost 55 years. victor's charred body was found the next morning at the side of the road. with that holding on to that house. another victim has been identified as rodney nickerson. his family says the 82 year-old altadena resident fel

gayle, it's good to see you. firefighters certainly have a lot more work ahead of them in southern california. absolutely not out of the woods yet with these critical fire weather conditions. take a look at where the he used year is. >> we are still seeing single digits in the humidity levels and that has been driving those fires. and we also have breezy conditions here. 24 to 26. and even 29 miles per hour. wind gusts coming from the northeast that classic santa ana pattern, ventura county. this is that laguna fire just broke out this morning and similar conditions, humidity down to 5%. 23 miles per hour. winds from the northeast. now let's head over to the palisades in eaton fires. these are almost contained but still dry conditions out here as well as breezy conditions. now there is a cool down on the way, but red flag warnings remain in place until tomorrow morning. so what's driving all this? well, it's always been about the dry conditions. we are talking record dry here. a second on record at last check. an
