we have ben wedeman actually in gaza city. ben, we're continuing to look at this media building in gaza. we're trying to get ben. wolf, bear with me. as we take a look at these live pictures of this smoking building that's been hit twice in the last two days, this houses the gazan press. it's a 24-hour news channel, i guess kind of like cnn. ben wedeman is here. ben, tell us about this particular broadcast center and why israel so badly wants to take it out. >> reporter: this is an office building. it contains in addition to lawyers' offices and others, a television station associated with the hamas movement. what's unclear, however, is what exactly their intention was. the first floor, there's a lawyers office. there's no sign for the television. my understanding, that's a few floors above where this building was hit. this building was hit in the upper floors, its top floor yesterday. very early yesterday. so it's not altogether clear what the target is. i saw the ambulance services brought out one person who was severely burn

ben wedeman is standing by in gaza city, has not seen any rockets being launched from gaza city, but our bureau there is on one part of the city. israeli defense forces saying two rockets fired. ben, israel's ambassador saying he -- that's not unusual, that's not -- he didn't seem to be making too big of a deal of that. he said it takes some time in a cease-fire like this, for everybody to kind of come into line if in fact that's going to happen. >> yes, that's the case. i remember at the end of operation cast led in 2008, 2009, we were out in northern gaza, hours after this cease-fire took effect and saw two rockets fired from that area, right in front of us, in fact. into israel. i think all sides understand that there are a few loose canons, so to speak, around, and that it is inevitable there will be violations, certainly in the beginning. and i think we really do have to watch how the next 24 hours play out. if, indeed, there is a dramatic deescalation of the situation. and what we're seeing now, certainly from gaza, there is no rocket fire from the city. there is a good deal of

constant threat of rockets coming in from gaza. >> israel says they are doing targeted strikes into gaza city. the hamas rockets are obviously not so precisioned. back in 2006 you visited one of those rocket-making factories in gaza. what was it like and how has that changed how they're making weapons now? >> well, it's something of an overstatement to call it a factory. it was just a couple of rooms in a house in a gaza suburb. and it was really quite crude. they were mixing the propellent there on the scene and they were very worried they could do something wrong in the mixture and the whole place could go up in smoke. what we've seen since 2006 is a real change in the kind of weaponry that hamas and the other organizations in gaza have their hands on. those rockets we were seeing in gaza back in 2006 had a range of somewhere between six and 12 kilometers. now we're seeing rockets that clearly are not homemade, so to speak in gaza. the rockets that are being fired in the direction of jerusalem and tel aviv clearly have been smuggled through the tunnels. these are probably soviet-era medium-
