the leather gear is reproduction because in my collection i own a lot of original gear. i don't like to bring it out especially in these kinds of conditions. most of the hardware you see like the grenades and the entrenching tools and the clips, those are all original. and it's amazing how much of it is still around. a lot of it was brought back to the united states. when i was stationed in europe i was able to comb the flee markets and find the stuff on my own. i have been collecting since i was 7. we have a basement full of what my wife calls old green stuff. the festivities are much grander in europe. they have had a lot of celebrations and a lot of memorial services and things like that. i think the united states has done a pretty good job with the world war i centennial commission. they have hosted some great events and made great strides in educating the american people about the sacrifices of world war i. remember, even though we were involved for a short period of time, the casualties were tremendous. there were many communities devastated by the losses. >> what
