that is the mission corridor and the geary corridor. you see the grid. there are areas that have more facilities to make walking more conducive, and others where it is a lot of work. we are a city of short and frequent trips. that is a good thing. that makes economic vitality in a city drive. it makes local businesses thrive. we want to support that. here are some examples of the latest project. the prominent was a success. we want more opportunities to get that local economy in preparation to do that. looking at st. design, and no commissioner more -- looking at street design, i know commissioner moore has been excited about this. pedestrian to vehicle exposure has been great. we would like to see dedicated transit and cycle facilities, and reduce the risk for pedestrian exposure. that is something we are trying to push for. i know you approve the better streets plan. we are translating that into a tool designed for complete streets. it is very expensive. that is something we are really paying attention on. when we just use paint, we have seen major dif

currently this business is operating at 10630 geary street. they are attempting to relocate. i would point out that this location is in an area of high crime also undue concentration. this has developed into unknown area. this has become very popular in the past several years. a couple of things i would like to point out -- there has been opposition in support for this. in fact, i kept my numbers quite big, because it did not want to be tied down to anything specific. there has been well over 50 letters of protest. there are hundreds of letters of signature of support. both are similar in nature in that they're using a boilerplate supporter opposition and signatures attached. that is just a statement of fact. a couple of things i do want to speak to, because i have been going back and forth with community people, and i think it is fair to point out that there was early on accusations that the business did not appropriately post or do the mailer. that is a big part of the public notification process with the opera -- alcohol and beverage control. it is force the department to

commissioner lee: ok, the department first. >> field 6747, address 1117 geary boulevard. first and second notice of violation was issued. the violation in this case installed a deck on the roof. if directors hearing took place on march 10. an order of abatement issued with conditions, to file for a building permit with plans to legalize or remove the deck installed. and that the final condition, 90 days to complete all work including final inspection approval. there was a permit issued in 2008 for a commercial roof. that permit was signed off. it is reasonable to conclude that there would have been no deck on the surface when that permit was signed off. later this year, two permits were filed but have not been issued. each of those permits -- if any of the were issued and signed off, it would clear the violation. one was to legalize existing debt and a roof. the other was real insulation of floating deck. because they are not issued, staff recommends to uphold the order of abatement and impose assessment of costs. commissioner murphy: this the engineers letter satisfied t

-- sixth and geary. a lot of issues in our neighborhood tend to be graffiti, carbos thing. sometimes, there are robberies, and on occasion the occasional killing happens. but it is nowhere near the other problems that other districts have. i often what the district with the police captain and look at the data that comes out to look at where crimes happen within the district. there is often different types of criminal activity that happen, but the police, i think, are very sensitive when residents call to really hone in on key areas and no one crime may happen, but it is a very primitive and proactive approach. i do think that the police department is one of the most community sensitive in our district as well, so they often are, with community meetings, and building a community advisory committee, our officers work closely with our police department to ensure that our neighborhood is safe. >> governor brown proposed eliminating funding for redevelopment agencies. talking about your opinion of this plan.
