my name is liz bryson, i'm the project manager for the geary rapid. i will give you an update on this project because it does -- it's a major transit and safety project that does pass through a corridor that serves a lot of small businesses. it's also going to be entering construction in the near future so it seems like something that would be of interest to the group to hear about. to set a contest it was already read into the record but the geary corridor is a very busy transit corridor for san francisco. the local and rapid buses carry about 54,000 riders each day and it's not just people going from the richmond to downtown to go to work, the line is used all times of day both directions people going ever where making all kinds of trips, shopping trips, work trips, et cetera. >> isn't it a busy bus line in the bay area? >> yes, so, really like just this line is about the same rider ship as cal train. it's a busy bus route in the country. there's probably a few lines in say new york city and l.a. that may be comparable. we have two key goals that we

as you all know, the geary rapid transit project is move forward in different phases. this is phase one that will be under construction starting in early 2019 and it will take 1 1/2 years to 2 years to complete. finally, the larger portion to the western side of the city will move forward to construction in the fall of 2020 and will take a couple of years to construct. this in essence shows a map in 2018/2019 where the different projects will be under construction, the major corridor projects and then move into construction efforts, as you move forward into that 2020-2022 time frame. i want to go ahead now and show you a schedule that shows all the projects. we have a lot more data here on numerous projects that i haven't gone through and i have a lot of other slides that given the time i won't go through right now, but i do want to introduce tom mcgwire from sfmta, so he can talk to you about the city's traffic management plan efforts and after that, it will be john thomas from dpw to give you an update on some of the other efforts that dpw is undertaking. >> okay. th

it runs from geary to fell and there will be some paving that will good from fell down to haight. and this is a project that is nearly complete and it's addressing one of the city's high-injury corridors. you will recall when we brought this to you for approval that at the time it was seeing a significant number of injuries and fatalities of all modes. people walking, people driving, people biking. so it really was a divider of neighborhoods almost like a mini freeway running through the neighborhoods in san francisco now includes a landscaped median. a public plaza will be one of the last pieces to get completed. upgraded utilities like water and sewer. of course, it's been repaved. there are bike lanes to go behind the bus stops, trees, sidewalk planters and pedestrian-scale lighting. by the time we next meet, the construction should be just about complete. this was largely funded by our own revenue bond to the tune of $26 million. really a transformational project and one that took a lot of community work up front and then design and construction work and now are nearing the en

it's a full redesign of masonic street to geary. includes wider sidewalks and new median, paving, landscaping, lighting and upgraded sewer infrastructure. the t.a. provided $10.2 million in obag funds and approximately $400,000 in sales tax dollars to the project. the sfmta anticipates holding an opening event in august so i want to extend my early congratulationss to them. many board members past and present who have lived through a -- again, long, frustrating experience. but the light is finally at the end of the tunnel. and finally after years of design and construction, the trans-b joint powers authority has set a date of august 11 for the grand opening of the sales force transit center. the t.a. has, as we all know, played a very major role in funding and supporting the development of this regional transit center which will house a hub for 11 local and regional transit systems including muni, a.c. transit, sam trans and eventual rail connections for the downtown extension of cal train and high speed rail. the integrated transit
