"i think it's time to fire up the combine and let's combine them and see what we see." nats rolland schnell is harvesting 20 acres of ilevo beans planted side-by-side with a regular variety as part of the iowa soybean association's on- farm network. "all these brown strips are ilevo strips, the ones in between them are non-ilevo beans." ilevo is supposed to be syndrome.. brett mcartor with the network says schnell's field didn't see much of that this year.. "as far as this particular trial we difference between the treatments." that gives schnell a good opportunity.. "the thing that i am really looking forward to, is to see if there's a yield bump with the ilevo product when there isn't a severe presence of disease like in these soybeans." if there is a yield difference.. the product could make up for some of its additional costs.. as schnell harvests.

after the break david geiger talks to the state climatoligist about that.. on the agribusiness good mor if you think storm damage is the only cost of climate change, think again. from the rising price of food to higher insurance rates for homes and businesses, the economic damage will only get worse. but with american-made clean energy, we can save money on electricity and spur innovation to create new businesses and jobs. it all starts with 50% clean energy by 2030. last week was warm.. dry.. and windy.. and farmers got a quarter of the states corn crop out of the ground in the six point nine days suitable for fieldwork.. which the iowa crop report says is the most this season.. that report now only looks at two measures of progress.. how much corn and beans are harvested.. half the corn crop is now harvested.. 52 percent.. two weeks ahead of last year.. moisture content for all corn is at 17 percent.. though i've heard reports of farmers having too low moisture content.. near 13 percent. the soybean harvest is 83 percent done.. ten days ahead of last year.

"we've been off to a real good start here, here in the soybean harvest, see we're running 60, just under 60 bushel right now. we had some beans that we planted in april, we've taken all them out. we're now into soybeans that were planted into early june. it's amazing for what they're yielding, for being planted in early june. but i guess when you have 32 inches of rainfall in a year it helps grow a crop. in greenfield, iowa. we're about 50 percent done with soybean harvest. i think that's about where south central iowa is today on the report. some of the elevators are having some logistic problems. they just told me that the one they've been hauling to they're going to fill a temporary storage up with soybeans tomorr
