bloombergs keri geiger joins us now. what happened to the prosecutor's case? is a pretty long effort. mozilo hadle open -- been referred to relating to the mortgage meltdown because of countrywide, one of the largest subprime lenders in the u.s., and obviously had an enormous amount of exposure when the subprime lending crisis hit. there's a live disappointment through the years that mozilo has largely escaped too much scrutiny or basically what people think should be punishment for what happened. putting that into perspective, if you did not do anything wrong in the eyes of the law, he did not do anything wrong. the u.s. government two years ago was planning to sue him based on a statute that has been used to find banks over $37 billion for risky mortgage lending practices over the past three years. very recently they decided to not bring that suit. >> was there any sign that we were approaching some sort of tipping point here in this investigation? keri: it was a waiting game to see what was happening. a lot of people in the market and the legal community re
