gen. lynch: i'm going to have to leave that to the analysts and the pundits to review because i think there is a lot of study going on about a whole host of factors in this election because so many times that i think people viewed from a statistical vantage point, for example, turned out to be different. there will be a lot of discuss about that, a lot of analysis. i'm not in a position to say what weighed in one way or the other, so i'll let people analyze that. what i can say about the whole matter is throughout the consideration of the investigation that was under discussion, we took great steps to try and make sure that the independent team of career prosecutors and agents were able to do their work freely without any interference from anyone , really, and just make their recommendations, and we reported those out. and so there are times when people try and be more transparent than we often are about that and provide more information about that so people can understand the process. you know,

gen. lynch: i'm not so sure you -- jake: expected it all, right? atty. gen. lynch: there is no way you can anticipate everything that happens in the day of the life of an attorney general. people ask me to describe my day. every day is so different. but every day is so incredibly rewarding. the people that i get to work with. if the intelligence communities, from law enforcement agencies that we work with so closely, so what -- i wouldn't say it's a surprise, but what's been most gratifying is to see, even though i was a u.s. attorney in the field but to see the larger role of the department in the lives of the american eople. that's been tremendously gratifying to be able to go out to the west coast and talk to local law enforcement officers ho are on a task force and here -- a human trafficking task force with the fbi and talk to them about what a different this is made in the human trafficking victims they have been able to rescue. to hear that and see that has been wonderful. o talk to prose

gen. lynch: when they pledged the allegiance to the flag of america they knew it might call on them to lay down their life than they did so for all of us. for all of us. and yet, too often, especially in this last year, especially with the number of tragic terrorist incidents, an increase in some of the most divisive and fearful rhetoric we have seen in years. we have seen muslim americans targeted. we've seen them demonized. simply because of their faith. of their faith. of how people choose to worship a loving and merciful god. and i would say to you does clear, my friends, to both a blanket stereotype to characterize any members of any faith because of the actions of some who provoked that faith. it will take our nation backwards. it is to go backwards in our thought, our discourse, in fact it insult, to repudiate those who founded this great country. our first amendment, the very first one, it guarantees the freedom of religion in that first clause. that is how we came to be and that is what
