and gentlemen, welcome to the united states capital.e are delighted to have you here this evening to celebrate a monumental occasion. the 225th anniversary of the laying of the capital cornerstone. our culture is rich in tradition of celebration. we stop and celebrate at least for a moment what we are about to do and what we have done. we bring out the shiny new shovels at groundbreaking ceremonies, we mark the cornerstone with an engraved silver plate. and when the work is done, we have a ribbon-cutting ceremony to complete or signal the completion of our work. and these are important and appropriate markers of time and history in the making. it is these celebrations that make history come alive for us, for the past 225 years united states capital has been a work in progress. and it continues to be today. as the country and congress grew and evolved, so did the capital. and while the construction approved by george washington himself, was begun in 1793, many changes have taken place to this very day. the house and senate extensions wer

and we have a saying in arabic, ladies and gentlemen. it means, how often today resembles yesterday. in the age of strategic confusion, populism and polarization, to talk about saudi/u.s. relationship is a challenge. for more than 70 years, saudi arabia and the united states have engaged in a special relationship. an alliance that served the national interests throughout those 70 years for both countries. this important relationship though never without strains survived and flourished under 13 u.s. presidents and six saudi kings. they recognized the mutual benefits for both countries' interests. the relationship, ladies and gentlemen, was always thicker than water. to coin a phrase. the crises of the oil embargo of 1973 and the tragic day of 9/11 changed the factors impacting the reciprocal benefits of that relationship. however, despite the intense media onslaught on the kingdom by instant experts, politicians, think tanks and pundits, that relationship recovered and even broadened. nowadays, this relationship is once again threatened.

i know that one of the gentlemen was nadding your hea nodding yo.ike to say anything at this point? introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about yourself. >> i'm dimitri weinstein, i'm 17-years-old. i started this program last year so this is my second year in the program. this program really helped me. it taught me a lot about self-discipline and respect. having to get up on time and get places. making sure that your uniform is ironed and looks neat and kept neat. one of the big things that was a really plus for me was the interactive and last year we had a ambulance company do a basic life-support class, which was really hands-on and fun. to learn and know how to give c.p.r. we also did a first aid class this year. that was also really fun. i got to learn ways to make explains ousplints out of itemsr house. over all, this program really means a lot to me. i want to be in the fire department one day. i actually graduate in this november from the youth academy. i'm looking forward to it. >> thank you, very much. >> hello. my name is rome bake
